This hotel was built in 1901 and was probably a gem in its day.
There is nothing wrong with this Hotel but I could imagine Raffles taking it on and really making it something special.
The rooms are very spacious and clean and the view across the Perfume River is nice.
The hotel is reasonably close to the restaurants and the walk along the river has some nice night markets....the markets aren't aimed at tourists so the clothing may not be to your taste but worth a look.
The hotel has a nice outdoor breakfast area under some lovely trees and the breakfast is also good quality.

Room Tip: The river view is a good option.

Had a top floor room next to the Presidential suite that overlooks the perfume river. Great view.
The breakfasts were the best I had in Vietnam.
Easy access to everything

We were very happy with this hotel. It overlooks the Perfume River and in the night the view is delightful. We were lucky to be there during the week of the Hue Festival with street parades and performances. The festival is held once in tow years. Breakfast was superb - an excellent spread served out in the garden under the shade of large trees. The sound of birds chirping was very pleasant. Unfortunately though the birds are caged! The rooms were large - we had a triple room - a genuine triple not a double with an extra bed. The beds were very comfortable. Wi Fi was free and access was good. In the evening when they turned down the beds they left a scroll of paper tied up with a red ribbon in which there was a bedtime story! We thought that quite cute. There was a basket of fruit in the room which they replenished. What more! We thought we could re visit in 2014 in time for the next Festival!

Recently had two nights here as part of a tour. This would have been the best hotel all of our trip. Nice old world charm, 3 story hotel loaded with heaps of photos. It pays just to walk around all the floors to look at all the old photos. Bar area which also shows old movies and films. Musical shows in the courtyard of a night time. We were fortunate enough to have breakfast outside under the old trees. Good array of food. Some of the rooms are a bit of a trek to get too but were comfortable. Massage facilities available were ok. Both nights we had after dinner drinks in the bar with view overlooking the river. Small night markets across the road. Not a lot in the area but we were out all day. Ate at hotel one night and was fine. You can walk across the bridge to the shopping centre and larger market area about 10 min walk. We didn't have a problem with any musty smells in our room. We opened the window to let (fresh) air in and i always travel with a room spray just in case. Fruit and water were supplied in the room.

Room Tip: There are plenty of rooms in this hotel. You don't have to take the first one. Ask to see othe...

Whilst travelling around Vietnam we spent one night at this hotel and wish we had had the opportunity to stay longer. It is a beautiful old hotel which has modern facilities. Our room was quite large and extremely tastefully decorated, consisting of one queen bed and 2 single beds, even though there were just two of us. The location is ideal, being just across the road from the Perfume River in a central location just a short walk from a range of good restaurants. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful, but the real highlight for us was the glorious garden restaurant. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in these fabulous surroundings and were also fortunate to be treated to live traditional music while having our dinner.

Room Tip: The front rooms have views of the river but also front the road. As it was festival time while we we...

We stayed here for two nights and wouldn't recommend it. While the building has some old-fashioned charm, it is tired and needs refurbishment. Our room was large, but hardly luxurious: it smelt damp and a window between the bathroom and the bedroom meant that anyone using the bathroom at night woke up his/her companion. Breakfast was very disappointing. All-in-all this is a 3 or 4 star hotel for coach parties. The only plus for us was that it was an easy walk from La Residence where we spent a very pleasant evening and had an excellent dinner. If ever we visit Hue again, we will stay there.
