“Fully restored Imperial Temple”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

These large Urns stand in the forecourt of the To Mieu Temple - in the South West corner of the Forbidden Purple City. Each one represents a different Emperor. There are also 2 phone box type structures in the same courtyard, housing dragons.
This is the best part of the Imperial forbidden city, turn right as soon as you enter through the Ngo Mon gate. The temple itself was impressive but no photos were allowed inside.

“Impressive”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

Huge funerary urns - worth a walk in the Imperial city to view these. Finely decorated they represent nine Emperors.

“A great corner of the main complex”
Reviewed 11 January 2014 via mobile

This temple complex is dedicated to the scholars, though it's uncertain what this entails. The urns are impressive though of obscure intent, compared to other temples where objects have a specific purpose. It does take nice photos, in the sense that there are few other close range objects in the entire complex to give photos perspective.

“Check out the handles.”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

They are all in great condition and made of bronze. All different and one had a cannon in bass relief. All of the handles mean something and I am unsure why all of the Kings didn't get one.

“Beautiful Detail, Interesting History”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

I posted some pictures to give an idea of the casting detail on these. The pictures were, to me, the stand out feature of these enormous works. Be sure to read or get from your guide their history, which adds vital background to highlight their relevance and importance.

I only gave 3 stars not to belittle the works, but I guess it was in relation to the rest of the countless other incredible craftsmanship on display here in the Imperial City. As another posted mentioned, I don't know why these deserve a separate listing, and I only reviewed to post much lacking photos so you can see some of the designs.
