I recently stayed at the Imperial for three nights. My corner room, on the 10th floor, had two panoramic windows with incredible views over the Perfume River. The room was decorated with lovely dark oriental furnishings. The bathroom was huge, with a separate shower and a bath. The bed was large and very comfortable. My only surprise was the older style TV, not flat screen that I had encountered everywhere else on my travels. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety but it seemed to lack 'pizazz' but staff there were friendly and obliging. Staff overall were welcoming, particularly the girls on the Tour/Travel and Sales desk. There are a couple of restaurants in very close proximity, even the Mandarin Cafe whose reputation seems to have been spread far and wide. Mr Cu says he has been in his restaurant for over 20 years! The Japanese restaurant almost at the end of the hotel's driveway was fabulous and ate there two consecutive nights, one because the food was so good, secondly because it was during a day of torrential rain and it was too difficult to go further afield. I am unsure if I would return to Hue again, but if I did, I would definitely stay at the Imperial again.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with a river view, on a high floor!

The Imperial doesn't get five stars as it just felt impersonal, however other than that I can't fault it! On initially checking in I was disappointed with the room on Floor 12 as I had booked a 'River view' which, admittedly you could see the Perfume River if you looked from an angle but not a view I was happy with. I immediately went to reception and asked for a change. They looked on the computer but said one wasn't available until the following day but they would facilitate the change for me. I don't know how true this was as the Hotel was empty and has many River View rooms over many floors?! The following day I had to go down and ask for a move and didn't get the feeling it was in hand! That said, on our return from a walk around the Citadel we were moved to a corner dual aspect room on Level 13 which looked out directly over the Perfume River. Job done... Both rooms were clean and well maintained with comfy beds and amenities. Shower was good with a short bath. No good for me at 6' let alone two of you to relax in! Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice and very good quality. Although I started with saying it was impersonal, the staff we did come across other than reception we're friendly and courteous. It didn't help that it felt empty which is no fault of its own. It's a grand hotel in a great location which I would recommend to anyone and got a good rate.

Our room was on the 7th floor facing the Perfume river & town of Hue. The rooms are beautifully furnished with large panoramic windows, and must mention the bathroom with a big walk in shower & seperate bath and on the side little draws with toiletries.

The hotel is situated by a bridge with traffic coming from all directions so not easy to cross the road. There is a very nice roof top bar with compfy chairs and one evening we did have a cocktail up there, about $6 each and they also had a menu for bar meals.

Breakfast Western style was really non existant you'll get fried eggs but no bacon, but you can always have egg on toast? You'll probably have to make do with pastries there wasn't even a great selection of fresh fruit.

Free wifi throughout the hotel and in the lobby some free computers if you need to use one but no air conditioning so you won't want to linger long down there.

It's a very short walk into town there is one road full of bars & restaurants with long happy hours. We had 2 cocktails 2 beers & two main courses for about VDN 240,000. We did eat one night at the Titanic restaurant just across the road from the hotel which gets mentioned on tripadvisor and although the meal was ok & very cheap it wasn't really that fantastic.

Room Tip: Higher the floor better the view

One if the rare hotel in Vietnam that provide international standard 4-5 star service. Close to shops and the old capital ruins. Room have a 180 degree view of the river and part of the historical city. Services were great and the day tour plus guide was informative and nice. Up we travel from south to North Vietnam and having stayed at various hotels, this is one of the best.

Our room for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 9 & 12) was very clean and very comfortable. The selection and quality of food at breakfast was absolutely magnificent. The rooftop bar was excellent. The tours desk staff took very good care of us when we wanted to book day tours. The hotel location is unbeatable.

Excellent location in the heart of the City, close enough to walk to the riverside park, market, bars and shops.

Attractively decorated rooms, large bathroom and walk in shower. Breakfast well presented buffet.

Downside was the room mini bar / fridge was unplugged and not working. Nearby stores for your drink needs will save $s for the cost conscious traveller.

Rather sterile high rise hotel. Rooms ok, service ok, location ok - but nothing particularly grand our good. Easy access to the market, but dining choices nearby require a bit of a hike or short ride,
