We spent a really comfortable couple of nights at La Paloma. It's a small hotel with extremely clean, smart rooms clustered around a lovely swimming pool in perfectly manicured grounds. The main road was just outside, but you couldn't hear it in the room. Mr Bu collected us free of charge from the bus and recommended a couple of local restaurants which to be honest from looking at the outside we'd probably have walked straight past - but we're glad we didn't as the food was great. Nha Trang itself wasn't so interesting - the best bit was visiting a Cham Tower which was within walking distance of the hotel. For our girls the highlight was breakfast at La Paloma - delicious fresh juice, lovely baguettes and banana pancakes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as far as possible from the road.

We were at La Paloma Hotel for two days and we enjoyed it much.
Mr. Bu, the owner, picked us up from the bus stop early in the morning when we arrived and took us to the hotel. There we checked in at 7:00am, had a shower and got breakfast. Thats customer service!!! Also we asked for help with a Photo-guide, Mr. Bu asked a friend and we had a wonderful half day with very good spots for interresting photos. The costs were 80 USD, driver included. It is not less money, but every cent worth. We would never have seen such spots and met these people, our good english speaking guide have arranged for us.
We rented a motorbike there to investigate the surroundings for 7 USD and to get to the inner city. The bycicles are to small for tall(1,85 m) european people, i had some problems with it.
The hotel is a quite place in a touristic city, the garden and pool are absolutley well kept. The resort seems to be like an italian or spanish.
Due to family driven business, we felt at every time wellcome. At every time were somebody there and asked if he/she could help in a very good english.
We can absolutely recommend this hotel and will come back when we are next in Vietnam.

Room Tip: Choose the deluxe-room, its bigger, our bath room was very nice.

After having read the great reviews both on tripadvisor and in our travelguide, we expected nice rooms and a nice hotel but we were very disappointed. The first room that the owner, Mr Bu, showed us was ok (nice bathroom, though), the second one looked like a prison cell (and didn't have a window). So we decided to pay the extra 10$ for the "nicer" room which still looked a bit like a prison cell. We weren't sure why because Mr Bu is a photographer and has nice photographs hanging in the hallways and breakfast area. We originally wanted to stay for two nights but changed our minds and stayed for only one night. When we told Mr Bu and asked him to book tickets for the overnight bus for us (he had told us before that he could do that) he immediately told us that he is sure that there aren't any tickets available for that night. He made a fake phone call (yes, it was VERY obvious that it was fake!) and confirmed that there weren't any tickets left. From that moment on he was not friendly to us anymore, very unprofessional! We decided to get tickets directly at the bus company and left after one night.
Hotel is not in town but some km away.

We were initially nervous about our planned 5 night stay after an unexplained no-show at the airport by Mr Bu (quickly sorted but no apology provided) and some problems connecting to La Paloma's wifi on the first day. La Paloma is a bit off the tourist track and on the first evening we did consider decamping to the Novotel. However we soon settled in to our family room, with its' great layout - a wall between us and the kids - undisturbed sleep at last! The garden is beautiful and immaculately maintained (like the rest of the property) and the swimming pool is really lovely. Mr Bu is a photographer and has an eye for aesthetics - La Paloma reflects that. We also enjoyed the breakfasts - note that you can ask for Pho, although it isn't offered.
We found the family to be less exuberant with their hospitality than other places in Vietnam, which felt a bit weird at first, but they were always very pleasant and unobtrusive, which was a nice change.
Possible improvements could include more verbal and written communication - particularly on the local area, such as recommended places to eat and shops etc.
On the whole, we were happy with La Paloma and think it offers definite value for money - particularly for families and those who appreciate a visually appealing and comfortable environment on a budget. I'd stay there again.

We enjoyed a relaxed three-week stay. Mr. By, his wife and family were very pleasant and helpful. Glass windows shielded the dining area from the street, then an open area to look on the beautiful manicured yard and swimming pool. Yes, the water was very clean and swimming was enjoyable.
Our room was not very large, but always clean and comfortable. One drawback was that the sheet wasn't wide or long enough to comfortably cover myself and my husband!
This is a great family run business where they all work together.
