This is a centuries old historic small old walled city. It has fantastic architecture. It is very small and can be walked quite quickly, although there is quite a hill. There are lots of restaurants and souvenir shops with local and imported crafts (mainly from Turkey). The shopkeepers are fairly aggressive in asking you to come inside ("free to look"), but back off if you ask. The streets are too small for driving, so plan on walking.

beautiful small narrow streets full of passion to old time and local souvenirs shops in both sides. do not eat breakfast in the old city.. its expensive. rent an audio guid for 10 Manat with a map and no need to go for an expensive tour. bargain everything you buy and go as low ashlar the price

This walled city is a gem. Walkable, with nice shops, street vendors, restaurants, etc.
The area is a labyrinth of small alleys and streets, you can get lost easily, so a map is a good idea. Nice vendors, not too pushy. Nice restaurants, nice boutique hotels. Lots of embassies and consulates. The area feels very safe as most of Baku.

Very nice quiet and clean walled city. It reflected the culture and history of Baku while keeping pace with the modern trends of the world.
