- Rooms were spacious
- Location is excellent - both to visit the tourist spots of the old town, close to the sea front and also close to the business district
- Staff were friendly and courteous
- Decent breakfast spread satisfying the essential needs of vegetarians
- Internet was included in the tariff
- The hotel also helped in processing the visit visa for the country which was very helpful

The Boutique Palace Hotel is a friendly hotel that abuts the old city wall. Because it abuts the wall and is at a street corner, there is no real view from the hotel. If you are looking for a view from your room, you will have to look elsewhere. You can touch the wall at the restaurant where you have breakfast. I thought the breakfast was, for an Asian, somewhat limited in range. There are plenty of cheeses and breads and they can cook an omelette on order.

I had to have dinner there a couple of times because of work and found the food of reasonably good quality if a little expensive.

The room is sizeable. It came with sufficient toiletries and a complimentary bottle of water. My beef was that it lacked slippers—which I had brought, just in case.

The main advantage of the hotel is the location. It is literally next to the old city, which is charming. It is also close to Fountain Square, which is pleasant to stroll around.

(Which hotel you book in Baku depends on why you are there. In essence, there are two kinds of hotels. Those in the old city, walking distance to the sea, are the older and smaller non-chain hotels. The Baku Expo Center is away from the city and so closer to the chain hotels. Those chain hotels are newer and away from the old city, which is the happening place. In the old city are: Guest House Inn, Icheri Sheher Hotel, Maiden Tower Hotel, Noah's Ark Hotel, Old City Inn, and Boutique Palace Hotel abuts. Check out http://www.azerbaijan24.com/, discovered alas late in my stay.)

Staff are reasonably friendly but service is distinctly spotty. On most days, the staff will turn the TV from the Azeri channel to the BBC. Cleaning of the room sometimes left glasses unwashed. Some staff not only do not speak English but do not even try to communicate: when I asked a female staff if they served dinner, she kept saying No, No. This after I gesticulated bringing my hand to my mouth. On my last day, I woke up early and called to cancel the 6.30 am wake up call. The receptionist said: But it’s not 6.30 am.

It’s not a bad hotel and I don't regret staying there. But I don't think it rates so highly.

Room Tip: All rooms face a road that is busy during the day and especially at rush hour. But it's fine during the sleeping hours. The rooms on the upper foor have larger windows. Mine on the first floor was a half moon that rose from the floor and stopped chest high. If that bothers you, get a room on the upper floor.

You can't get any better location in Baku. It's in the middle of everything. a very nice hotel, with great service, very nice and helpful personnel. The Rooms are really big, and the bathrooms too! They have a rich breakfast buffet and also possible to get typical hot breakfast dishes. if we go back to baku, we will stay for sure again in this hotel.

Very nice boutique hotel with nice and spacious suites. The location is unbeatable and the personnel is very friendly. We were a party of 10 people and everybody felt like staying at home. The restaurant is rather small, typically suitable for breakfast but the food and selection was really good. We additionally got very tasty omelettes and a variaty of turkish breakfast ingredients like sucuk. Should we end up one day in Baku again we certainly will stay at the Boutique Palace Hotel.
Many thanks to the hotel manager Ugur Colak and its staff.

I just can´t get any better. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, silent, and in the perfect location. The rooms are big and comfortable, with excelent taste in decoration and design.
