Went on a three day business trip to Dhaka. Hotel was booked by the local contact there. Compared to other properties in Dhaka, the price was moderate even if it would have been termed expensive in any other part of the world.

Was picked up by the Van sent by the Hotel at the Airport itself. The location is excellent being in the centre of the city and also an excellent locality. It has a fairly self sufficient restaurant with Sri Lankan Buffets as a specialty on Friday and Sunday. The food was a little on the expensive side. The Breakfast spread is excellent and include Indian, Continental and Sri Lankan spreads complimented with excellent tea and coffee.

The room is nice. Mine was a normal room on the second floor. A little small but not bad for a person travelling alone. The Bed is nice and also there's a workstation. Best thing about the Hotel is free Wi-fi which gives excellent speeds. Bathroom is nice with a Bath Tub included.

The Hotel has a small but well maintained pool as well as a Gym and facilities for Steam/Sauna which are complimentary for the guests. The staff is polite and well versed.

Overall a very pleasant stay. Will definitely stay in the same Hotel next time in Dhaka.

Room Tip: Choose the Deluxe Rooms with a Balcony and overlooking the pool.

The limited competition of decent hotels at a decent price are hard to find. There is no major problems with this old and a bit run down and smelly hotel. It has an outdoor pool one floor up which can be used to do laps in.

The hotel currently has a major renovation programme underway. Currently they are working on the 5th (top) floor but the banging and hammering is very audible throughout from about 9am to (last night) about 7.30pm. It's pretty much impossible to work in the rooms. They say they will do the other floors in turn, so this could last a while. On other aspects, the food is good and staff are nice and helpful. Internet is fine. Walls rather thin. The rooms need the refurb they are getting, and while they are waiting could do with a more thorough clean than they are clearly getting on a daily basis. Perhaps the dust from the renovation doesn't help.

The rooms here are large and comfortable, the food is good and varied, the staff are very helpful, The rooms look a little faded in places but the air-conditioning is very efficient and the shower is excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a real window away from the refurbishment.

Excellent service which included breakfast in the room at 4.30 and shuttle to the airport. Nicely decorated and very comfortable rooms. This hotel can also be recommended for really good value for money.

Okay - number one you are in Dhaka - Number two you don't want to shell out for the plastic opulence of the Westin so here you are at the Royal Park.

The rooms are comfortable and clean enough - in fact they were remodeling the place starting from the top down when we stayed there March 2014. Remember you're in Dhaka - so expectations should be tempered with reality. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning works - two big pluses.

The staff here is top notch, they are friendly and anticipate your needs - I am going to miss being saluted.

Now the real reason to stay here - the food. The chef is amazing the breakfast brunches are astounding, but the Sunday Sri Lankan buffet is some of the best food I have ever eaten - the Friday international buffet is no slouch either.

So decent rooms, great staff, excellent food. I'd definitely come back - it'll be interesting to see how the remodeling turns out.

Room Tip: It's a pretty quiet neighborhood punctuated by the random rickshaw bell.

I would say that this would be a place I would stay again if I was attempting to avoid somewhere much more expensive or touristy (Pan Pacific and Westin come to mind). The hotel is clean and welcoming and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side and tended to smell pretty musty when I returned in the evening. They could also do with being cleaned a bit better - there was a layer of dust on my TV/minibar stand that managed to survive a full week and even worse when I moved furniture to find a plug socket next to the bed. But the bed was comfortable and had a good bathroom too.

The restaurant is surprisingly good - I was there for over a week and even though most the evening meals were buffets, the standard was high and there was always something different to choose from. I didn't have any issues with the laundry service or room service either. One word of warning - the pool is freezing! It's also a bit out of the way so I found it difficult to get any transport beyond the hotel shuttles (comparatively expensive). However, the location does mean less noise over night.

Room Tip: Get a double room - the singles are pretty small.
