“Good hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Rooms are spacious when it is a single accomodation although when it is sharing it becomes a bit congested. All amenities are up to the mark. There is a gym. No swimming pool. Staff is courteous. View is not so great outside your window.

Rigs Inn is nicely located, just far enough away from the busy main roads of Gulshan 1. The hotel is clean and well maintained, with helpful and polite staff. If you want to exchange money, the hotel often gives a slightly better rate than the many money changers in the Gulshan 1 market.

Bengali food is very good, and the kitchen produces some delicious dishes. During our weekend workshop, the lunch buffet comprised bengali fare which we all enjoyed a great deal - somewhat to the detriment of the post-lunch sessions. On the only occasion that we ordered tandoori rotis - it was probably the bet i've ever had! However, on the first night we had asked for greek salad, in which feta-cheese was replaced with diced boiled egg.

The property has tall buildings blocking two sides; our room was sealed and curtained all the time - with no natural light. Bangladesh seems to be a place where anti-smoking rules are yet to take hold. Every room is equipped with an ashtray and a matchbox, and the first two rooms we checked into had an annoying odour of stale cigerettes left by earlier guests. But we did find a fresh smelling room quickly enough.

There was a cute wicker basket of fruits, which we didn't use; no electric kettle or tea-coffee sachets - which would have been useful. Wifi reception was flaky in the room, one had to be near the door to get a strong enough signal. We did not have any problem with hot water. The mini-fridge made an awful racket on the first night, but once turned off, the nights were restful.

It was quite comfortable for a busy weekend visit.

We. walked in off the street after being disappointed in our booked hotel around the corner and were able to even get a discount. They also were able to give us a room safe in a regular room by borrowing one from a suite. The room was a nice size with an excellent AC, excellent complimentary WIFI and a clean bathroom with bathtub. Yes you have to run the water for a few minutes before it gets very hot. The complimentary breakfast was adequate; nothing fancy but they make omelets to order. It's located in Gulshan 1, an upscale neighborhood with shopping and restaurants a bicycle rickshaw ride away. The airport pickup is complimentary one way. It's very efficient and necessary in a town with no taxis. If you don't need a 5 star this hotel is very good value for the price under USD100. The best thing about the hotel was the bellman who would walk a few blocks with us to the auto and bicycle rickshaw stand at the Gulshan market where he would make sure the Bengali speaking drivers knew where to take us. He also went with us on a half hour ride to New Market on his way home from work.

I stayed in Rigs Inn hotel and it was booked through my travel agent form India. I stayed in this hotel from 16th Jan- 2013 to 24th Jan- 2013 (8 Nights) I have paid advance money for my stay.

The hotel is the most worst on the earth and the beheviour of some staff members are also very typical with negative attitude.

No body can stay on the second & third floor because these both floor are located over Hotel Kitchen and form morning 5:00 hrs the chef will start the exhaust fan and it will swith off till midnight at 12:00 hrs so i was not able to slip during full night on 16th Jan.

I complaint there reservation manager but he said i can not do any thing because it is aa noise of exhust fan fo our kitchen . He said that i can change your room and shifted on 3rd floor but still i was facing the same problem but the noise level has slightly reduce on 3rd floor.

The flush of toilet was totally out of order and i can not clean my toilet. This hotel is justshowing that they provide orthopedic bed but the bed & bed sheet are exteremely very very bad and they are misguiding the people.

I asked to returned my money so i can cahnge the hotel and live in other hotel but hotel staff (Reservation manager) said that we can not return your money.

Even they have not provided the vehical to drop me at airport when i checked out on 24th Jan -13.

They do not have a natural milk in there restaurent. I have asked to provide it but they do not have or made any arrangement.

The location of lift of this hotel is typical. If you want to go on any floor, every time you have to climb 8 to 9 steps on foot and then you can reach to the lift. In the same way if you come out from lift, you have to go down or go up on foot, to reach on any floor

HOW ONE OLD / AGED PERSON CAN GO ON FOOT ON EVERY FLOOR BY CLIMBING 8 - 9 STEPS ON FOOT TO REACH ON ANY FLOOR, WHO MAY HAVE KNEE PAIN PROBLEM?

So I must preface this review by saying that we stayed here on our first night in Bangladesh, having arrived late in the evening and had spent ages in the immigration line at the airport and were feeling a bit of culture shock.
There was nothing particularly wrong with the Rigs Inn: the staff were friendly, the room was cheap and fairly clean and the hot water worked (though a few times the water went an interesting shade of brown). That being said, the place is looking a little tired and the decor is a bit old. Also we had to pay for the bottled water, though it wasn't very expensive.
We also used their airport pick up service and found the driver to be a good, safe driver who was there when we emerged from the airport.

Good value for money, all the usual conveniences, but unmistakeable signs of decay - musty carpets, borderline towels. Good location, wifi is alright, water is charged, and a decent spread for breakfast. The hot water turns lukewarm during your shower. Gurgling sounds often startle you through the night, the plumbing must be creaky. Service is just about fine. All in all, an average hotel with no pretensions otherwise.

Room Tip: If you are on higher floors you will not hear the traffic
