“Panam City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Panam city was established in the late 19th.century as a trading center of cotton fabrics. During Brithis rule Hindu merchant built their residential houses in a colonial style. This area is protected by the Archaeological Department. Sonargoan was old capital of Bengla,it is 30km.away from Dhaka, while making plan to visit must consider the traffic, sometime is quite heavy, you have to go all the away on the highway towards Chittagong. This a good place for day outing, picnic & study tour for the students. You should take you children at least once to give them history of Bengal. There is museum inside the fort, where you will find things related to Mughal period

“A worthwhile excursion close to Dhaka”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

Using the new flyover, pass the infamous Jatrabari crossing traffic in a jiffy and you will be there before you know it. The facility has a large parking area, so don't have to worry about where to park.

The main building is having a facelift, courtesy of the Korean giant Youngone. Seeing the pictures they have posted and parts which have already been restored will give you a flavour of the richnss of the architecture. Just behind that is another building that is still open and although nothing spectacular, you will have things to appreciate.

I strongly suggest that you then move on to the "Panam nagar" a few hundred meters away. This is essentially one street lined ith very old buildings in various state of ruins. But if you go soon enough, there is a lot of beauty to be appreciated.

“Not sure whats here”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

No, didn't like it at all. But, had one of the best time here because I was with friends. No maintenance at all. it has a museum inside the main area, which does not give a slight knowledge about the culture.

“Touch of history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

If you want a bit touch of history of Indian subcontinent, then it is one the place you should look for. If you are good at photography, don't forget to carry your camera. And, you should obviously take your own or reserved car.
