“Poor Managed Hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

stay this hotel for 2 weeks due to business and it was booked earlier with no choice to change or refund. The room is pretty dark even with lights on. Stains all over in room, bedsheet, blankets, toiets. toilet was pretty run down.

Location wise, it has a local fast food downstairs + a supermarket to get your daily needs. Hard to get public transport as this is norm in Brunei. Wifi connection is pretty bad and slow, often get disconnected.

Service is not up to average with almost none service staff on duty at most of time. Room was pretty noisy as this hotel is located within a shop offices area. not much activities in hotel itself. so you gotta find your own activities. but the country itself is pretty much like this. so dont expect happening night life.

few restaurant nearby to try out, food is nothing to shout about.

Room Tip: would not recommend for leisure hotel, if you plan to have a sleep only (i.e touch & go) then it...

Stayed a few nights here as we are having some logistic problems. About 10 mins to the airport and there is a fast food connected together with a supermarket. A few restaurants are just nearby but most are closed at 10pm. Room is nice and clean. But the wifi is only avail at the lobby. Good for budget travelers. Public transportation is not that good.

Indeed, the room is very comfy to stay in along with a good rate offered. But, the customer service from the receptionist need a huge improvement and hope the management and human resources should take a look in this matter seriously in order to attract more customer and building up good image of the hotel itself. During my check-in, i was entertained by a new receptionist and his mentor (i believe).i understand he is still in a learning process but he shouldn't show to the customer that he is still 'a student' with 'a teacher' monitor what he is doing..He should take an initiative to greet and smile in a sense of welcoming the customer.Another thing is the receptionist should tell the customer which room number and which floor they will stay and orientated them to the hotel facilities and most importantly emergency exit.another matter that i encounter was when i ask about the price if we want to extend our check-out time, instead of 12pm we planned to check out at 3pm. The chinese look receptionist with his lazy attitude said we will charge that for 1 day stay..i keep on repeating on extending HOURS of stay..and he still insisted by saying the same thing.i still dont believe it.never heard even in a 5 star hotel they charge 1 hour extending check out time as a 1 night stay..ridiculous and funny..anyway..i will not say much about the room because it was just nice and comfortable.this review is more on the receptionist attitude. in order to have a good image and quality service, it should come from the attitude and quality of the people who work in it. i'm looking forward for the improvement of services in the future.thank you

I stayed at the GC, Bandar Seri Begawan for 6 nights in April 2011. The location is OK, there is a shopping precinct nearby with a well stocked supermarket, a pharmacy, a few restaurants and fast food outlets, but be warned Brunei is a dry country, there are no bars and everything shuts at around 9 PM !!!
The hotel itself is very clean and well furnished, the rooms are large and clean and come with tea/coffee making facilities. There is a local bus service that runs regular buses to the nearby Centrepoint Mall and into downtown Bandar.
From memory, the room wasn't that cheap, approx £40 GBP per night, and the breakfast was very, but overall, the price was fair for Brunei as it isn't a cheap country.
As for Brunei itself, it's very clean and green, but unless you have to go their for work, it's best avoided, far better to head up the coast to Labuan or Kota Kinabalo in Malaysian Borneo as there is much more to do as a tourist and it's a heck of a lot cheaper

The rooms are clean. Location is good with a supermarket and ATMs right within the same block. Chinese restaurant round the corner and so is a gourmet shop. However wifi although free, works only in lobby. Even then sometimes I could not get access.

Location is very good and there is a market underneath the hotel for anything you need. The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. Bed lined was clean. Unfortunately that's about all the positives I have. It's incredibly noisy as people slam their doors all night. It’s not often that hotels allow smokers in the corridors and you can smell it the minute you walk into your room. The smoke comes under your door and as a non smoker I found it overpowering. People are very loud when leaving the hotel around 5 am for prayer services and the voices carry as the floors are not carpeted. I had earplugs and they made a big difference. I suggest you bring them if you want a good night's sleepI stayed there for work and if I could I would have moved out. Bathrooms are not very clean (wear thongs in the shower),however the towels are changed every day. .I asked for a wake up call each morning. they were never on time and one morning I never got the call. Take an alarm clock or your phone if this is a priority for you. The hotel is cheap and if you are staying for a short lay over then go ahead, however if it's for a relaxing holiday I'd think again

Room Tip: Don't get room 103 as it near the service room and very noisy

The hotel is very close to the airport (more or less like anything else in Brunei). That´s the only upside I can tell you about.

The front desk is really very unfriendly. I asked for the Wifi and they were kind enough to tell me it is free of charge. I tried to use it in the room, but there is no reception. I called them up and all I got was a very unfriendly "Wifi only lobby, room cannot!" and he hangs up.
As long as you don´t ask questions they all smile.

The room is very dirty and old. Even though I asked for non smoking, it smelled like somebody smoked in the room just the day before.
The shower is rather disgusting.

Room Tip: Try to be close to the lobby. You might get the Wifi signal.
