We had a nice 2 night stay.

Staff were lovely and always very helpful. Rooms were big and bathroom was amazing (though no separate door for toilet if that bothers you).

Great location- check out rooftop bar!

Breakfast was pretty good and was included and could either be had in room or in bar!

Expensive by Cambodia standards- can def get better (read cheaper) value elsewhere.

We went as a group of friends on the 12/6/14 and we had a great weekend in The Quay hotel.
The check inn process was swift and speedy, reception staff was friendly and welcoming.
I stayed in a standard room, the room itself had a good layout with two small windows. Nice and comfortable bed with a ceiling fan above it.
Bathroom was nice and clean, in good condition with a very nice shower area. The only drawback was some construction noise in the morning, but other than that I have no complaints.
The breakfast that was included in the room rate was excellent.
I would also take the opportunity to say sorry to the staff at the hotel and other guest at the time for the behavior of one of our group members, he was completely out of order and i feel sorry for the staff that had to deal with him, I promise that we wont bring him next time we come.
I would like to thank Steve for being a great host, we had a cracking good weekend in The Quay and you made our stay memorable, Thanks!

Gunnar

This is a lovely hotel with nice staff. However, I am a non-smoker and don't like the smell of cigarettes in the lobby & the room. Kindly they sprayed the room for me but the sheets still carry the odour. Someone is smoking in the lobby now - this is also where they serve meals! It's a pity.

Please note that the Quay Hotel has dedicated non smoking rooms. Also we don't allow smoking in the lobby bar/restaurant area until after dinner time and when the front doors have been opened. We have seating outside for smokers as well as an open top roof area. If on occasions guests do not follow this, we can only sincerely apologise to our other guests.

The Quay is a genuine boutique hotel (only 16 rooms) ideally situated on the river in the heart of Phnom Penh. The terrace bar has a magnificent view of the city at night and is a great place for happy-hour drinks and perhaps a snack. There's also an extremely small pool.
The basic room has no windows, but everything else the traveller requires - fridge, safe, A/C, fan, tea-making facilities and a very modern bathroom complex. Breakfast is delicious and is either served in your room or the lobby by some most obliging staff. In low season the rates are very competitive. Highly recommended!

Where do you want to stay in Phnom Penh-of course the river-front because of its view , action and some Cambodian life-style.? We had difficulty in selecting this place because of the mixed reviews but this IS the place to stay.
The river-front view is good cos its so different than the usual hotels one stay in.You can browse the local life where the good old things are still there-people taking walks with their families, after dinner stroll, giggly girls group walking by...-all this from your first floor suite. The noise is not too much and the river is tranquil with a boat/ship sailing by..This is the most happening part of the city.We loved a big group exercising together with same t-shirts.
Of course there are other hotels but none matches the location of this-its just right.
Plenty of eating and massage places nearby-4$ for foot massage. The popular restaurants like Titanic and Friends are close-by.Tuk-tuks ever present and nice guys, friendly and sweet with great service. All of them were good.
The room was luxurious -those chairs that you see on the net are great for sore backs -relaxes you instantly.Loved them. Large theatre tv screen. Big beds, comfortable. Writing desk, fridge with drinks,water-some complimentary as well. And miniature liquor -surprised to find Irish Bailey.
Sweet little note from my maid --
The bathroom was another world of luxury-it was large.Center was basin with either side well hidden toilet and shower. And tub for bath with easy and amazing hot/cold water.Bath gels, shampoos in lovely containers,3 sets of towels perfumed, slippers, robes.(safe also).
The balcony was lovely to relax in evening and the glass-door were thick.Hence once you closed it there was no noise coming into the room though we were on first floor.PERFECT.
Breakfast was awesome. They give you a card which you tick and give them and they bring your BF.Please do try the BEST cinnamon toast and carrot-pumpkin cake.Beautiful..
The Bar (where they also serve the BF) was varied though we did not patronize it- was a nice place to hang out -we preferred the terrace.
Service is excellent. On our second day some-how the a-c stopped and my son made a call at reception around 12 at night.Within 5 mts a person came had a look and did something and problem was solved-my daughter did not even stir.Full marks !
The terrace has a pool (rather too small) and its a great place to have dinner. Its quiet and they have these high chairs with tables and you can sit and see the lovely river-view and have dinner. To add to our fun it rained and we shifted into the covered area for shelter. The food is good.
Its easy to go anywhere from here.Do killing fields on its own about 20kms away and all others can be done together. We did the everything in one day with one tuk-tuk(including killing fields its 30$/ without killing fields its 15$)
From here you can even take a walk on the river-front at night-you will see plenty of local people.

Room Tip: Take suite and river-facing rooms-first floor is not a problem at least in June.

We had taken the river facing suite and stayed for 2 days and had a wonderfully luxurious time. It is a cozy yet luxurious and comfortable boutique hotel. Above all it is environment friendly in many of its operations like using recycled paper to the way they do their laundry.

The Location:

the location is fantastic with a wonderful view of the Tonle sap river. It is one of the most happening areas of Phnom Penh as many good and famous restaurants and pubs are located within 500 meters. It is located close to many attractions (National museum, old market, night market, royal palace, silver pagoda) You can either walk to them or take a tuk-tuk for very cheap. It is also close to bus stop for buses going to siem reap or sihanoukville or other places. The evening strolls on the river bank is wonderful.

The View from room:

Awesome view. It is wrongly said by some people that lower floors don’t have a good view. I was on the first floor (facing river) and had a fantastic view of the river and also the park on the pavement.(See Photos). Sitting on the rooms balcony and enjoying watching the ships sail by was wonderful. There is a kids park and an open air gym on the pavement on the river bank (kind of like Phnom penhs Venice Beach CA.)

The Room :

Although it is a midst the bustle and entertainment, the room is completely soundproof for a good nights sleep. The room is hugely luxurious .WiFi signal strength is too good as they have separate routers for every room with separate bandwidth connections!! (the signal was so strong that I could browse the net sitting on the river bank, across the road, 150 m from my room) The bathroom is colossal with a tub, separate shower room (separated from the toilet room) and all well-equipped and facilitated even with the smallest of things as cotton rolls, toothbrushes and aroma candles and 24 hr hot steaming water!
Other facilities include : Huge TV with BOSE home theater, Reasonable mini bar rates, Oil heated aroma therapy equipment, Huge beds, 24 hour tea and coffee facility, Bathrobe and slippers, Laundry, Hair dryer, Big chairs with leg rest, AC temp controlled, Remote controlled fans and lights, LAN port.

Breakfast and food:

The breakfast is Scrumptious! Best scrambled eggs ever! They freshly bake their baguettes and croissants and other awesome bread. Cinnamon bread and walnut bread are too good. The room service is available 24 hrs. (refer photo of menu)
The Lounge on the ground floor overlooking the river has a good collection of wine, and the cocktail menu is also good.
The rooftop café has an outstanding panoramic view at night and the food is delightful. Cocktails are innovative and loved the chicken satay!

Staff and services:

Typical Cambodian staff with very friendly and helpful and caring behavior. Service was always with a smile and was very prompt. The room maid Miss Putheara was very prompt and friendly.
The people at the reception as well as the dining were also efficient and sweet! The check in was smooth. They booked bus tickets to siem reap for us. They arrange full day tuk tuk as well as taxi tours for very reasonable rates. They also always had change for tuk tuk drivers as we had only 50$ bills. Money exchange is also available for certain currencies.

All in all a good experience and a wonderful time at the Quay. Thanks to all the working members at this hotel!

Room Tip: Take the river facing rooms!

Four of us stayed at The Quay in August 2013 for 2 nights, which was the 3rd and 4th day of our 3 week asia adventure. We booked online while in HCMC at $50pn, which turned out to be an rear room with no windows!!! So we upgraded to rooms with a view of the tonle sap at about $89 pn. The hotel us in a fantastic area, right across from the river, walking distance to the temples, shopping and restaurants. We commissioned our tuk tuk driver, mr lucky, for a day who took us to S21 and the killing fields for about $30 for the day. S21 and the killing fields are a must, very moving and the tuk tuk drive to and fro just added to the magic. The hotel was charming, small, you select breakfast menu options, which were very good. The one con: the rooftop pool is the size of a jacuzzi, so don't pick thus hotel if you want to swim laps. Great hotel location and price reflects this.

Room Tip: Cheap interior rooms have no windows, so expect a premium for rooms with a view of the river.
