“You can find better hotels”

The rooms are very small and not well maintained. The pool area is dark and right next to it a huge building under construction. The staff was friendly but not very attentive. The sister or hotels are much better.

Dear Guest, Indeed we have quite a few hotels in Phnom Penh and they are quite different. Nevertheless, I have a special feeling for the Blue Lime as it is quite different from all the others. I guess it is a question of taste.... Cheers, Alexis

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Blue Lime Hotel in Phnom Penh recently. The experience was rather disappointing unfortunately. The description given of the Hotel on Agoda was rather misleading. The hotel is attractively decorated that is true and the fact that it is down an alleyway was not too much of an issue for us. However the room was not at all of the standard expected.

It was very dark as two of the windows opened up onto brick walls. The room was very stuffy as well especially at night time when the canopy over the bed stopped the air con from reaching us. Even worse was the fact that the air con was making a rattling noise which increased during the night meaning that we had to turn it off. We then noticed that it was dripping a lot of water and of concern as there were electrics nearby

Having a shower was difficult as there was not any hot water and even if we are in Cambodia it is cold in the mornings

Breakfast was very disorganised. For example having ordered scrambled eggs and bacon only the eggs arrived. Ŵe had to wait about 7-8 mins before we got the bacon. I had to go and get milk to go with our coffee as the waitress forgot. The staff were very nice but just really disorganised. We were also unable to enjoy our breakfast one day as we were invaded by monkeys and the waiting staff didn't know how to deal with them forcing some guests to abandon their breakfasts

The experience with the reception staff was rather mixed. While some of the receptionists were very nice one man in particular was really not helpful.

Finally there was major reconstruction going on in the building next door which was right next to the pool making it not at all a relaxing experience

Waow! Not sure what to answer. I guess the owner is supposed to be smart and come-up with a good excuse, an apology or at least some kind of explanation... Any one out there with a suggestion? HELP! I guess I could not be a writer, feed people with my own views. Do they care? Do you care? Obviously if you are reading this, you do care. Well, my job is not to write about my views but to make your stay in our city the best possible. So I will drop this and go back to the management of our little business and try to make it the way you expect it to be. Cheers, Alexis

A few years ago, I lived in the area and was looking forward to returning to my old neighbourhood. Despite the obvious changes, construction-wise, I was pleased to find the same kind of atmosphere. The Blue Lime, a jewel of a small hotel if you are into minimalism with a human touch, seems to be confident enough to rely on word-of-mouth as publicity since there is not even a sign at the end of the alley to tell you where they are hiding! This being said, the search is worth the effort and, once you have settled dow, you will find it hard to leave this peaceful oasis amidst the general hysteria that appears to be taking PNH over (Yes, I'm a country boy!)

Now that I know what to expect, I'll be looking forward to my next visit, with a warm welcome and service and a comfortable stay guaranteed :)

Room Tip: Room 04, I think, with a balcony looking over the pool and a partition inside that turns it into a k...

The Blue Lime is a lovely little boutique hotel just a couple of blocks away from the National Museum, Royal Palace, and river-front, but away from the main river-front area traffic and noise. The decor is minimalist, with the furniture in the rooms all made of finished dark concrete, which makes for a simple, clean, and elegant feel (which I loved!). The staff speak English very well, and are professional, friendly, and helpful. If you get the included breakfast, be prepared for a spread of lovely fruits, breads, and eggs however you want them.

One of the best things about the Blue Lime is that it has a no sex-tourism policy, so you can feel confident that no one is being exploited in the room next door (a not-uncommon sight in some of the river-front hotels). Showing support for this no-tolerance policy toward sex-tourism is a great way to encourage the hospitality industry to be responsible in its business practices.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you can't walk up stairs, be sure to ask for one of the ground floor...

We stayed 4 nights at the Blue Lime, we had previously stayed at their sister hotel the Pavilion, so we had high expectations, we had read reviews about the construction next door, which is still in progress, there is a note in the room explaining that they have an agreement about the work hours. no work before 8am, well it seemed to start at 7am a little annoying but not really the Blue Limes fault, the hotel staff were excellent something that was also at the Pavilion, the food was ok but not really up to the standard I thought it should be, Pavilion could teach them a thing or to, but since there is a lot of choice in Phnom Penh I don't really think that would be a problem, the room was comfortable, we had the private garden room the garden is along the entrance to the room but does have a lockable gate to keep out others, the garden was well kept and was nice to see each morning, the one thing that may put people off this hotel is the entrance, it is up a short lane way, you will be dropped off at the end unless you arrive in a Tuk Tuk, it's a bit of a surprise when you first see it, but there always seems to be someone in the lane way and I never had a problem, finding a Tuk Tuk isn't a problem as there is always a gaggle of them out the front, just inside the gate is a rough price guide for trips, and ALWAYS negotiate a price BEFORE you travel as they will take advantage of unsuspecting travellers ( this is Cambodia wide not just here ) the only problem we had at the Blue Lime was our AirCon was on the fritz when we arrived, they fixed it quickly and with no fuss, overall I liked the Blue Lime, it's within walking distance to the river front, museum, Royal palace, and a short ride to the central market, and again the staff are wonderful .

Although there was some noise from next doors construction the building is largely finished on the outside so didn't bother us too much. Nice room and large bathroom. Balcony was good but in full sun so too hot to sit on. Lovely breakfast; fruit, pastries, eggs, best passionfruit juice and tea or coffee. Nice friendly staff and the pool area is great spot to read and relax.
