“Good, but not great”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We had seen some reviews raving about Blue Lime as THE place to stay in Phnom Penh. Certainly, the rooms are very nicely decked out and the poolside area is pleasant. It was slightly underwhelming, though, in comparison to other hotels we had stayed in.

The location could hardly be better, with the National Museum practically a stone's throw away, and the Royal Palace just beyond. There are also plenty of excellent shops and restaurants nearby.

Our room, despite being nicely decorated, was a bit on the small side, with not a lot in the way of storage space for clothes or luggage. The bathroom was also situated on the other side of the balcony, making it somewhat inconvenient for toilet visits during the night; it may also have contributed to the bathroom being very hot and humid, in comparison to the hugely efficient air conditioning in the room.

The poolside area is nice, though a little bit dark due to the leafy canopy provided by the trees. While this obviously means decent shade from the sun, it could perhaps do with a bit of pruning to let a bit more light in.

The breakfast was undoubtedly of very good quality. In fact, I had some of the best coffee here that I had anywhere in the country. Less pleasing, though was the meal we ordered at lunch time upon our arrival here; we waited a good 30-40 minutes for a burger, which was very disappointing when it arrived.

On the whole, the staff were very friendly and helpful, though a bit more reserved than at other hotels we stayed in. Brownie points for allowing us to stay two hours past the normal check-out time as we had an evening flight home.

Blue Lime is certainly a good hotel, and worth staying at. I was just left with a nagging feeling that it could easily be made so much better.

Great stay from the moment we walked into the lobby. I think my husband would have slept on a lawn chair outside for more of the passion fruit juice they gave us on arrival. Thankfully, we had a spacious garden room to stay in instead. It was clean (just a little wear from the climate I think) and quiet. The pool and breakfast were great. The staff was so helpful and the location central. I'd definitely stay here again.

My boyfriend and I loved the Blue Lime. The service was impressive. The staff were friendly and attentive. We especially loved the bartender - makes a mean mojito! Complimentary breakfast was really great every morning. The rooms were spacious and clean, with modern furnishings. Our favorite part of the hotel was the pool area. It is well designed to offer privacy through the layout and plant design. I'd definitely say the hotel made the hectic city more bearable!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not on the first floor, and for a blanket for the bed.

We stayed at the blue lime for 4 nights, and I will agree it is a haven among the madness of Phnom Penh.
I would like to compliment the staff, all staff were great ambassadors for the hotel, and our young barman was extremely helpful and consistently offering us great service, pool side drinks, meals recommendations etc, well done. The rooms were very clean, however our bathroom was a little strange and on the third morning I discovered I was being watched in the shower from across the road which was a little off putting. (There were no windows as such, just gaps where air vents were and glass/Perspex has been put in place)
The biggest downer would be the concrete bed, it was so hard I put my back out and it took four days of pain to come right, I did not get to see all I wanted to in Phnom Penh as a result.
The Pool area was great, and when the madness outside all got too much it was a great place to head for.

Lovely hotel, great rooms, great location very good value for money. The staff were excellent and sorted out any queries we had. The breakfast was really good. Go for one of the rooms in the garden with the private swimming pool. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an excellent hotel in a great location

This hotel was recommended by the NGO we had come to have a meeting with.

Even though the hotel description says it is off a lane, it was a surprise when our taxi driver from the airport stopped at the head of the lane and told us to walk to the hotel and get someone to help with the bags, as his car could not get down the lane! We did and they did!!! a porter helped my husband truck all of our luggage down the street.

We were exhausted after 40 hours of travel and little sleep...but we relaxed the minute our fresh passionfruit juice arrived in the lobby as we were "oriented" to our temporary home.

Staff and surroundings are all charming and the breakfasts by the pool delicious and gracefully served.

Our garden room was very quiet and spotlessly clean, although their are some upkeep concerns as there always are in tropical hotels.

We found a very sincere and safely driven tuk yuk driver right outside the gate.

Room Tip: lots of room choices....garden, pool, balcony...all are pleasant

We stayed at the Blue Lime for two nights in August while we were travelling through Asia.

We were relieved to finally arrive in Phnom Penh after a long journey from Ho Chi Minh City but we got a bit worried when the tuk tuk driver told into that street and said the hotel was there (about 5 min away from the bus station). But once we got into the hotel, it was very, very nice and we were welcomed with a delicious fruit juice.

We don't like big hotels and this was just perfect for us ! There is a lovely pool with long chairs and covered day beds. We spent some time relaxing there one afternoon after visiting the Killing Fields and we also ordered some lovely food and drinks from the bar.

The staff was kind and very friendly, and one of the lovely receptionists helped us to get our bus tickets to go to Siem Reap. Most companies were fully booked at different times of the day but she must have spent at least 40 minutes to find us some bus tickets to continue our trip ! They also helped to organise a taxi for us so that we could visit the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum.

Our room was very clean and big with a private garden. The bed was huge and very comfy ! It was perfect and very relaxing!

The breakfast is served near the pool and the waitress was absolutely lovely ! We could have tea/coffee as well as some fruit juice and there was also fruit, French bread & pains au chocolat / croissants, eggs... It was delicious and perfect to start a long day of visiting the area!

The location was perfect: only 5-10 min walk from the National Museum and the Royal Palace.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family !

Room Tip: Our room had a private garden and although there are rooms with a private pool, we didn't mind a...
