I stayed at the Town View Hotel 2 in October 2009 while on a GAP tour from Vietnam to Thailand. The Town View 2 in Phnom Penh was by far the worst hotel on the tour due to the bad odor of the bathroom and the general lack of cleanliness (bed linen not changed after the last guest!)

Price, location, breakfast (with a great view!) and free internet in the lobby are positive points of the hotel.

Town View and Town View 2 are belonging to the same owner and are just around the corner of each other.

Safe clean and well kept. You are a bit isolated and there is no wifi outside of the lobby.

The staff was helpful and cheerful.

This is a nice hotel - us$17 - a lot cheaper than we paid throughout our trip in Vietnam. BUT, I have a bugbear! What I have found here, and at a couple of smaller hotels in Vietnam, is that the staff treat the hotel foyer as their living room, they dominate the computers/ internet in the foyer often so obsessed with their games that they resent it when you, the guest, need to use this facility that is included in the price, (the computer also becomes virus-riddled because of the funny (you can read into this what you will!) sites they visit - so the computer constantly crashes anyway!); they lounge on the furniture in the foyer lying on couches etc; they have their friends around and make a racket, loudly switch on the tv and watch it etc.

These hotels are unpleasant because of this behaviour - of course I realise that the staff do need and often deserve a break and understand their need for some relief from constantly waiting on people in this trade, etc BUT I must say I find these hotels unpleasant because of the problems in the foyer.

When I asked the man at reception where the owner was, he said he doesn`t come here. Well, maybe he`ll wonder where all the western guests disappeared to, and why his hotel is no longer even considered by guests, when the word gets around - and all because he didn`t have decently trained staff.

Anyway, I definitely don`t recommend the above hotel because of this sort of thing.

This hotel looks better from the outside than the inside.
Not bad for the price. Not noisy, small but with windows. Hot Water and AC required a call to front reception, then they magically worked (not sure why)
The internet was free for wifi, not sure if they charged for the PC's. Internet only worked in lobby. "Bufftet" breakfast was a follows. Coffee, cornflakes, another cereal, orange juice and eggs as you want them cooked. Location not the best, but only a $1- $2 ride from almost anywhere in the city.
Cost us $15US. great value

This is good value hotel but a $2 to $4 run in tut tut which you have to take into account as it is adding approx $8 to your room rate. Better rates can be negotiated frloom the drivers outside the hotel, The rooms are good size and bathrooms clean and tv fridge air con avail. A basic breakfast is provided at no cost but you have to be early as when food is finished it is not replenished. Difficult to find but close to Narin guesthouse which most drivers know

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of an Intrepid tour. It seemed Intrepid had not used the hotel before as our guide didn't know where it was, or that there was two 'Town View' Hotels; one is called just "Town View', the other which is the one we stayed in is called "Town View 2". There are around the corner from eachother. This caused a lot of confusion with tuk-tuk drivers and we had to direct them to go to the correct hotel almost every time.
The room was on the small side, with a mid size bathroom and funky hot water system, which worked fine. Bed was hard (like everywhere else we stayed). But it was clean and a great place to escape the dusty heat outside.
It's a $2-4 tuk-tuk trip from most places and there isn't much close by. There was internet in the lobby but was way overpriced - use the Internet cafes around the corner (near the other Town View Hotel). The next street down had a pizza place and a mini mart for water and snacks, but walking around isn't good as the roads are poor and dirty and there were a few unfriendly dogs around that barked and seemed aggressive as you walked by.
Our stay was fine and the hotel was OK - no complaints for a 2-3 star place.
