The Plantation is a fabulous hotel right in the heart of the city, in a lovely colonial complex. The rooms are fabulous, clean and well kept. The pool is great, with excellent sunbathing areas. Both restaurants were lovely - breakfast was a good spread, and the meals on offer were generally of a high quality. The staff were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

I'll report the only negatives we experienced first, since there were only two and they're rather minor.

The first is the location, which is just a bit desolate at night, but no big deal really--if you are staying here, a tuktuk is nothing to you.

The second is the hot water, and the shower hardware. The hot water is incredibly hot, and it gave me first degree burns on my neck and head nearly immediately. This happened due to my own clumsiness and also because our shower head had to be precariously balanced in order to deliver, well, a shower. Could be quite dangerous for children or other slightly clumsy people like myself.

Now, the good:

The staff were awesome, smiling and helpful despite our near ignorance of Khmer. They treated us like royalty. The grounds were sumptuous and the food quite good (if not exactly excellent). The room was cleaned immaculately every day, was spacious, comfortable, and tasteful. Our view wasn't exactly interesting, but still managed to be aesthetically appealing.

The on site spa was a welcome treat after a day of sweating throng the phnom penh streets. The pool was exquisite--it was so pleasant to enjoy the little cabanas with my partner nd a couple drinks.

Overall, the value for the money was incredible--it seemed drastically underpriced.

I would totally recommend this place to anyone eyeing it, unless money is no object. In that case, go stay at levmeridien for five times the price and maybe enjoy yourself a bit more.

Room Tip: Our room was fantastic and it wasn't a special or superior type. I expect they are all quite go...

Amazing place to stay. Totally recommend it. The only negative was that they didn't renew bathroom supplies (shower gel, shampoo, toilet papper) on day two.
Very nice pool, great breakfast. The personel and the service was very good.

We stayed here for one night on our honeymoon. The flowers they put in the room were beautiful and someone took great care in lying them out. The rooms were spacious and well designed. The setting of the hotel is like an Oasis which is lovely to come back to after being out in the hustle and bustle of the Phnom Penh. We only wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the pool area which looked like total luxury.

I have been to many spa resorts, but this one was different. While the total area was not very big, in fact at times I felt it was a bit too crammed for a spa. But I liked and enjoyed the greenery and natural flavour in its ambience. I would have ideally liked a better restaurant. The ultra-loud frogs that croak from its front pond were startling. Never heard such loud frogs on my life. The spa massages were also quite ordinary.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Plantation. A really nice way to end our trip to Cambodia. Our room was at the back of the property, without pool views, but being on the second floor we had better privacy than many of the other rooms. Great variety at breakfast. Pool was lovely. The restaurant starters & mains were outstanding - great quality & very impressive. The desserts were terrible comparatively.
Overall a great place to stay.

After travelling thorough Vietnam & Cambodia for our honey moon The Plantation was our last stop. we stayed here for 2 nights from the 20th to 22nd of November. Airport pick up was smooth. Check in smooth although did have to wait 30 min for our room to be ready. waited at the pool side bar and had a bite to eat. Food and drinks are pretty pricey I thought. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Tiny Balcony overlooking other buildings. Room was smallish but designed well. Rose petals all over the our and little welcome cake provided which was lovely. Best shower I have had whilst travelling, shower pressure was soooooo good. Cute little handmade soaps provided. Aircon was nice. I was a bit dissapointed with breakky as it was outside (undercover) very hot, lots of bugs and mozzies which I know can't really be helped. Yoghurt and fruit was very warm from sitting out. Not a huge selection of foods. It is in a good location close to the river, national museum and royal palace. Highly recommend visiting Daughters of Cambodia which is just around the corner. Also we visited S21 prison and the killing fields. Overall was an o.k place and would probably stay again.
