“A friendly and nice guest house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2011

We only stayed one night in Europe Guest House after spending couple days at Siem Reap. Seng (the owner) is very helpful from the beginning I contacted him via email. He helped to arrange a good tuk tuk driver to pick us up from bus station and drive us around Phnom Penh the whole day.

The room itself is clean. We stayed on a room without window but with air-con, hot and cold and LCD TV with many cable channel selection. Thus so far in my opinion the room is convenient for a guest house level. Especially when you just use it for sleeping at night.

The location is also strategic. Just a few meters from the riverside pedestrian, surrounded by many pubs and places to eat. On weekend, you can also walk to a night market near by (around 7-10 minutes walking) and blend with the locals there, enjoying local foods or buying stuffs on sale.

In conclusion, the place is a good option to stay.

We stayed in April for 2 nights in Europe guesthouse, because of the excellent reviews. The booking was no problem and the rooms are spacious and new.
The really annoying thing was that the bathroom wasn't cleaned for at least 2 or three weeks. Their was hair everywhere and the carpet runner was really disgusting.
The price is good and the rooms could be nice but not with this dirt.
The staff was ok but not really friendly.
I think there are better places around, you'll find without any problem.

This hotel is in a great location close to the action but still quiet. Seng was a wonderful
host and was incredibly helpful. Rooms are clean solar hot water showers and sat tv all for
10 dollars a night. Comfortable rooms. Although no bar or restaurant there are lots
in the same street and on the riverfront just a few moments away.

I booked to stay at the Europe Guest House because of previous reviews. I wasn't diappointed. From my first email to Seng, the owner, he coudln't be more helpful. The Guest House has a great location by the river. i came to renew my Thai visa and Seng saved me a lot of money and time by helping me. He also was great in the service he provided. I love this place and will always come back here when i come to Phnom Penh. The water is hot in the showers and the rooms have flat screen tv's and the most comfortable beds. Who cares if there is no lift? The building isnt that high. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book one of the rooms with windows

Rooms are very basic and pretty clean. Centrally located. Owner speaks perfect English and French and is very helpful. He cares about his guests (friendly welcome every time we come in), suggests thing to do without beeing pushy and checks on every detail (he even offered us to take another bus to Siam Reap than the one he had originally booked for us so we could get better seats).

We cannot praise Seng, the owner enough in this review. He is incredibly helpful and friendly (even though he April Fool'ed us about our visas!!!) and would do absolutely anything for you with a smile!

We had a double room with a fan which was fine for us as we were not in the room in the middle of the day. The shower was AMAZING - its solar powered which we were dubious about as we thought the hot water would run out as other people used it but it was boiling hot each time we used it! Rooms were clean, TV had a great selection of English/American channels, towels, toothbrushes etc were all provided. The value for money was very good - although, I found Europe guesthouse with singing reviews and didnt look any further!!

Great location, only a couple of minutes from where you want to be. Its alot cheaper to eat away from the river front (for people on a budget) and the portions are much bigger. Be sure to try to Loh Lak (not 100% on the spelling, sorry) which Seng reccomended to us - its yummy!! Seng also arranged buses, tours etc and even asked other guests if they had the same plans so costs could be broken down even further for us (ie trips to the killing fields etc as I think the minimum booking was 3 people which is an inconvient number by the tour place!)

Thanks for a wonderful stay! We will be sure to reccomend you to our friends and fellow travellers!

Room Tip: Seng will guide you! Rooms top floor = breeze!
