Any comments below criticizing Quealy's on the grounds that it is not really a restaurant are missing the point here (although I accept it may have been put in the wrong category here). A genuine Irish-run pub run by a friendly Irishman. This is what sets this bar apart from so many others in Phnom Penh and why it is a frequent haunt of many a local expat. The owner is always present so things are run consistently. Here a mix of tourists and expats can come for a chat and a drink in cosy comfortable surroundings with decent selection of music. The bar is open later than most, if not all, the bars on the same street and although I personally am not a whiskey fanatic ( I'd rather drink the water from the Mekong) you'd be well placed here if that's your tipple. My one criticism of the bar is it's sometimes a bit on the small side when there are a good few people there but this is hardly a complaint. There is plenty of seating outside in the forecourt....I just prefer sitting at the bar.
It's Quealy's Bar & Grill and although primarily a bar...burgers, gourmet hotdogs (and the occasional pot of Irish stew if you're lucky) is served from the grill. I have to say the burgers are amongst the best in town and are served until midnight when the young lady in charge of cooking retires for the night. Spent many an evening in Quealy's and can recommend it as a great place to sit and wonder what the hell is going on around you!! And by that...I mean outside the bar.. also known as the city of Phnom Penh. Which truth be told, can be a bit chaotic!
