I stumbled in to Quealy's nearly by accident one night and was glad I did. Congenial owner and some good guys to share a few drinks with who did not mind talking to someone just passing through.

Stumbled in here on a few occasions. Nice, friendly atmosphere and great drinks selection. Haven't eaten here so cannot make coment on the food. One of the few bars along 172 that stays open late, not too rowdy though.

A little confused as to why there is a photo of Paddy Rice Bar up above though? For those who haven't been to Quealys, the above photo is of a totally different bar.

A refreshing break from the normal Phnom Penh bars, Quealys is Irish owned and run by a true gentleman. The beer is cold, the pricing structure far better than Riverside and the burgers/sausages from the grill are delicious. You'll also get some varied and interesting banter at the bar.

Having been visiting Cambodia over several yrs I watched this man open this bar 3/4 yrs ago and saw the effort put in..since then every year Ive been welcomed back with a warm smile and and by my name and seen the success he's made of creating a welcoming and invite bar.. with a great mix of expats n astute passers by, this little Oasis is a God send on 172 Street - always a warm welcome, cold beer, great food an arrange of wishkey's as good as in Ireland and of course a wee bit of the irish banter - you really cant go wrong.. A great place to gather local info, listen to a few tunes, put the world to rights at he bar and have a giggle - ps.. dont mention Justin Beiber our u 'll have to buy the bar a drink..!!!

Any comments below criticizing Quealy's on the grounds that it is not really a restaurant are missing the point here (although I accept it may have been put in the wrong category here). A genuine Irish-run pub run by a friendly Irishman. This is what sets this bar apart from so many others in Phnom Penh and why it is a frequent haunt of many a local expat. The owner is always present so things are run consistently. Here a mix of tourists and expats can come for a chat and a drink in cosy comfortable surroundings with decent selection of music. The bar is open later than most, if not all, the bars on the same street and although I personally am not a whiskey fanatic ( I'd rather drink the water from the Mekong) you'd be well placed here if that's your tipple. My one criticism of the bar is it's sometimes a bit on the small side when there are a good few people there but this is hardly a complaint. There is plenty of seating outside in the forecourt....I just prefer sitting at the bar.

It's Quealy's Bar & Grill and although primarily a bar...burgers, gourmet hotdogs (and the occasional pot of Irish stew if you're lucky) is served from the grill. I have to say the burgers are amongst the best in town and are served until midnight when the young lady in charge of cooking retires for the night. Spent many an evening in Quealy's and can recommend it as a great place to sit and wonder what the hell is going on around you!! And by that...I mean outside the bar.. also known as the city of Phnom Penh. Which truth be told, can be a bit chaotic!
