“Excellent Budget Hostle”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Great bar, decent food, excellent staff (very friendly) and a pool. You can't ask for more. It's a little out-of-the-way, meaning its quiet at night, but still only a 5-10 minute walk to RIverside or a couple of dollars in a tuktuk. Room was a good size, clean and comfortable. However, a door rather than just a curtain on the shower/toilet would be nice.

Would definitely recommend this place, one of the best hostels I've stayed in in PP.

Very nice staff, rooms were clean and comfortable (we stayed in a private double with a balcony). Drinks and food exceeded expectations by far and I like that the staff turn off the music and wind things down by midnight. It shows that they're not interested in being the typical party hostel. Still, if you're getting a bunk, I'd suggest requesting a dorm a couple floors up.

Thanks for the cool feedback. We are a very social hostel and do enjoy a good party, but we always try to consider the comfort and peace of all our guests by switching the music off at midnight, we recommend the party people move on to the clubs, etc.....& hey we generally come and join them :)
Safe Travels.

My partner and I stayed at Eighty8 for 3 nights in July.

We found the communal area awesome with a swimming pool, pool table, and many areas to chill out. They also have $2 cocktails during happy hour and $1 beers (4-7pm).

The location is fine, but there are only a few eating options around the area. The street food didn't look too appealing! Fortunately the bar offered a delicious range of food. It was a bit pricey, but the quality was 10/10 so we ate here often.

We stayed in a mixed dorm with 8 beds. The room was fine, but the bathroom definitely needed some maintenance. We did not like the many empty bottles of shampoo/body wash etc in the bathroom. The sink was on a lean and the shower hose holder was broken so it sprayed out at you.

Despite it's downfalls we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend.

It was a 3-day trip to Phnom Penh that I decided to stay at 88 based on the reviews. In my experience in this hostel:

Hostel - it's a 5-10 minutes tuktuk drive if you go to the market and main area of the city. It's a relaxing place, away from the noise of the city. There's a tuktuk outside the hostel that could bring you for sight seeing.

Room - I took the dorm type at about $7/night. A 3/4 size bed was actually good enough. The bathroom was spacious providing you with tissues though the shower can be improved in terms of the flow of water but has hot and cold options though. Very quiet that you can't hear the notice from the bar.

Bar and Pool - it's very cozy. The wifi is only at the reception and in this area. So you can just sit and relax and have yourself a juice and smoothies at day time and grab some beer at night. Lounge in the sofas for siesta--they don't mind. The food is great and just enough---not too very conservative, not too many and its very cheap.

Staff - I am very pleased to be accommodate by Srayno. And even I was seating at the reception area, she treated everyone very nice. She tries to communicate with every guest on her shift. The rest of the staffs were ok...I understand that with so many guests, they cannot fully entertain.

High 5 to Team 88!

Great social area with good happy hour and a wide selection of food (Local and Western). Music playing creating social atmosphere around the pool/bar.

Rooms - (stayed in a 6 person dorm). The room was clean and the beds were much larger than the standard single, would say about queen size! The room had an ensuite which was adequate.

Only problem is the location not in a busy typical touristy area. When leaving the hostel its hard to find shops for anything!

I was only at this hostel on a stop over from Ho Chi Minh City to Siam Reap so only stayed for about 6 hours, however, I didn't want to leave. The beds in the dorm are genrous - doubles from memory and no bunks however rooms are quite loud from the music in the bar below.
Pool and bar facilities are excellent and so refreshing to see in a hostel. It was trendy new and gave the impression of a neat boutique hotel, certainly not a hostel.
Great music, cheap drinks, swimming pool and pool table. Great atmosphere. Not so close to Phnom Penh city area but also not a far walk or tuk tuk ride.

I stayed here just one night.
I sent them my details for a free pick up and that was perfect. As soon as I was off the bus the driver was there, holding a paper with my name on it. That was perfect. Sadly once I was at the hostel I found the driver to be slightly pushy about doing a tour or going straight away to see things (I had been on a 7hr bus and no food, I just wanted some lunch!)
The beds are big and comfy, the facilities are a bit old but do the job.
Sadly for the whole of my stay the interns wasn't working.
Overall an reasonable average option.
