“Charming little hotel. Truly wonderful.”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

I have been to the Little Garden twice and had wonderful times there. The hotel is a charming little villa in a quiet area in the South district of Phnom Penh. The rooms are nicely decorated (French colonial style) and very clean. The staff is *very* kind and helpful and a sweet little pool gives this place the feel of an oasis in the heart of Phnom Penh.

The breakfast is the only things that could slightly be improved (it's okay but not fantastic) but overall I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone. Wonderful value, wonderful place... Really.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine. I tried 3 of them. All good. The private terraces are a plus.

I liked the beautiful little garden that greets anyone entering the hotel premise. There is a small but nice pool, with a small seating area. The area was quiet normally except that during my stay, there was a house being demolished and rebuilt behind the hotel which could get very noisy daytime.
I stayed in room 9, and my children stayed in room 10 (top floor). We had many luggage but the staff readily helped with our bags.
I like almost everything about this hotel except that it was quite far from any halal (Muslim) restaurants. We had to take about 20 minutes tuk-tuk ride to get to a halal restaurant.

This was a charming little hotel off the main road on a quiet side street of BKK1. The staff was helpful and polite. The rooms were kept neat and clean. A few upgrades would be nice, for example, a better door locking mechanism on the sliding door in Room 8, and a working room safe as well. The staff was painting the hallways during our stay, showing us that the owner is serious about keeping the place looking nice. A simple and good breakfast was included in the rate. Also, the shaded pool was kept up nicely too..

Room Tip: We paid a little extra for a room on the top floor. We had our own little sitting area outside the...

I stayed at Little Garden for a week when I first arrived in Phnom Penh while I arranged a long-term housing situation. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful even when I asked lots of questions. The room (#4) was large and with wonderful bathroom/enclosed shower. The dining area is a peaceful and serene place to eat breakfast or enjoy a beer, or even take a dip in the pool. If you're coming from the airport, email the Little Garden to arrange a taxi or tuktuk for you! It was reassuring to know someone was waiting for me when I arrived.

If you love arts and lovely decor, it could be the right place for you - really nice arranged. I booked two nights, and ended staying five. The stuff was very friendly, the room clean and spacious and the Wi-Fi fast & stable. Plus the nice small patio to chill and the swimming pool are a huge bonus. Good value for the money.

Some advice on booking bus tickets : before booking on the reception, you may want to do some research before and insist to get a ticket from a trustworthy bus company. Or book by yourself. I paid 12 $ for the ticket to Sihanoukville with Paramount Angkor Express - one with the worst reviews on the internet. After seeing the bus and the driver, i now understand why. So i decided loosing 12 $ isn’t worth to risk my life and ended paying another 12 $ for a better company. My bad, i should do my homework beforehand.

The Little Garden is a lovely small hotel -- more than a guest house. It has proper bathrooms and showers, room service, concierge, telephones in the room, excellent ac and wifi. It's in a quiet street in a residential part of town, but just around the corner from the bustling BKK market, and a short tuk tuk ride to anywhere you'd like to go in the city. I come to Phnom Penh every year and have been looking for a well-priced, comfortable place to call "my place in Phnom Penh." Now I've found it.

Room Tip: I chose a superior double which gave me a high balcony overlooking the pool where I ate breakfast ea...

Tuk Tuk from the airport found it difficult to find, but once there, it was an oasis. We arrived late, but staff managed to find us a fruit salad for supper. Our room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the garden - this was a real plus. In a quiet street, next the Brunei and Singapore diplomatic residences, it was a lovely place to return to after the bustle of the streets and a day's signtseeing. Slept well on clean, firm beds. Set breakfast was fine, but a buffet would have been better and the coffee came as a surprise as it had a very specific vanilla flavour which we later learned was very much Cambodian taste.

The internet connection was good and the availability of computers for guests to use was a plus for us as we only had a smart phone with a very small screen otherwise.

Although the pool looked quite small, it was deep and big enough to have a lovely cooling swim at the end of the day.

The staff were very helpful and spoke English well. Tuk tuks turned up when ordered with English speaking drivers which again was very useful.

The only reason for a four and not a five was the dusty floors and the standing water. The floors needed a good clean - in the corridors and stairs in particular and there were pots of standing water - very decorative with fish in them - which attracted mosquitos.

There was a development site at the back but when we visited, nothing had started.

Room Tip: Go for a balcony on the top floor - a little more expensive, but lovely, and you get the feel of the...
