I agree with the other reviewers - this place did not live up to its photos or expectations especially considering the price. Very poor value for money - got much more for same price or less in other places (The Teahouse, especially).

The pool is indeed not nice at all. Breakfast was terrible - the made instant coffee and put it in a brew carafe to make it seem like it was filter made coffee. Selection and quality was not good either.

Rooms were very plain and basic and yes a very small bathroom with mould in the shower.

Would not recommend.

I expected more for the price i paid. The room was small and the bathroom was very very small. I did not expect this from this hotel. The restaurant and pub were expensive.
The room I had been given was on the 5th floor and the hotel did not have an elevator. Though the hotel have a swimming pool on the 3rd floor it did not look hygienic. You can find better hotels for the same price. The location is just a few steps away from the Royal Palace.

Number 9 is on a quiet street that is reasonable close to the Royal Palace, riverfront and bars. The staff is very friendly and will do their best to satisfy your request. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are very clean with big screen cable TV and the A/C will chill you out. The WiFi is best upstairs.

First floor was great, but upstairs needs attention. The room was OK. The food(expensive) was ordinary. (Happy Guesthouse across the road was GREAT)The pool is not a pool - it is a spa-bath - and it was so full of floating matter that it was 'milky-colored'. Not so unhappy with the place BUT the pool is listed as a pool and it is NOT!! I Wouldnt let my dog drink the water!

Room Tip: Rooms are OK thru

I stayed in Number 9 Hotel two times in 3 weeks -- before going to Siem Reap and after returning from there. Upon my return, I made the mistake of not booking ahead, so when I arriving in Phnom Penh, the hotel was fully booked. It was mid-afternoon, so I had to time to search the internet and then search the city. I eventually stayed in a room for the same price as Number 9, but not even close to it in terms of the amenities and service (but, fortunately, Number 9 had a room for me starting the next night). I knew I really loved staying at Number 9, but what I discovered through this process was that Number 9 is head and shoulders above the rest in this price range. You will NOT find anything comparable.... wonderful, clean rooms (that are cleaned daily along with fresh towels), very comfortable beds, flat screen TVs with good cable, a great restaurant/bar that serves truly delicious food that is cheap(!), fantastic areas for lounging on the 2nd (open-air lounge) and 3rd (pool & bar) floors, a perfect (central and walkable) location, and a staff that is kind, courteous, and eager to help/please. Book ahead, as they WILL book up, but do STAY HERE! (p.s. the manager is a great guy from Ireland, Alan, and he's so willing to hear whatever you have to say about the hotel).

Room Tip: Sadly, the single rooms have, effectively, no window, as they're on the side of the hotel that i...

We booked a room, airport transfer and onward car to Sihanoukville two months in advance and received an email from the hotel confirming all was booked. I then rang two days ahead of arrival and they had no recollection of this. Not the end of the world, especially as they then said they would make a new reservation and confirmed everything and took flight details for the transfer. We arrived at the airport early evening and no one was there, I called the hotel and they said the driver had been delayed so we took a taxi. Upon arrival at the hotel they claimed no knowledge of the phone call made 30 minutes prior and said they never received a booking - I showed them their confirmation email and they merely shrugged their shoulders. A lost booking could almost be forgiven if I hadn't rung again two days prior to confirm and rung 30 minutes before arrival and they said the driver was merely late. They offered no apology. 3 weeks into a 2 month trip, we've stayed in some amazing low budget hotels - this is unacceptable from a hotel rated so highly on trip advisor and in Lonely Planet. It left us with nowhere to stay on our first night and no onward transfer as had been promised - not a great intro to Cambodia.
The manager wasn't there at the time and I would be intrigued to know what his/her explanation is.

- Worth noting too that the hotel has two different pages on tripadvisor, one as a guesthouse and a more recent one as a hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised by this little hotel, I had visited it the day before a three day stay because I had read some inglorious revues, so I checked it out. A charming lady receptionist showed me around, great staff. Asked to see my room, a double. The rooms are small, but the air con worked well, big screen tv with all the channels, new little fridge, perfect. Beds good, sheets and towels clean and new...bathroom clean but shower squeezed in between sink and toilet.
There is a nice little garden "pool" but it is really a huge jacuzzi...water was clean, a cute rooftop bar and terrace, I had my first meal there tanning on a chaise longue, delicious and reasonably priced food, and guess what....quick service!! Not often the case in phnom penh hotels. I was very happy with the location, a nice massage place across the little road, all the tuk tuks you can want, a few restaurants all around, would surely come back for another stay. Also an easy going place where everyone talks to everyone...cool place.

Room Tip: Not on ground floor..go up as high as you can!
