Owner description: Welcome to the Mad Monkey Hostels Tours. During the day visit the Mad Monkey and jump on one of our Tuk Tuk tours out to the killing fields and S21, pay a fair price for your tour to the Tuk Tuk driver for a half day tour of both facilities. Then join us for dinner and then at night time do something positive. Then in the evening do something positive by attending our crawl for School event. The Crawl for School is a weekly pub crawl designed for young tourists and backpackers. Wrist bands cost $5 and provide you half priced drinks all night, 100% of your $5 wristband is used to fund education projects for poor kids in Cambodia. The event starts at the Mad Monkey rooftop bar in Phnom Penh every Thursday night, then hits Top Banana and Love Bar. It is great night out and a great way to donate to kids education in Cambodia. Tuk Tuk tour of the killing fields $12 - $15 (Depending on number of people) Eat at The Mad Monkey restaurant wide menu with prices starting between $4 and $10 per plate. Cocktails at our rooftop bar! Join the party and buy a wrist band from $5 per person.

“Must see”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

If your in phnom phen you must go and see this as this seems to be the back bone of the country now. Massively moving and will give you a insight into that harsh world which is only a few decades old.

“Sad and shocking but a must see”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

An eery and moving experience. Entry is $6 with headsets an additional $2. The headsets provide very helpful information and the survivor stories are heartbreaking. We were offered a tuk tuk for $25 (way overpriced) but glad we opted for an air conditioned car and driver - $35 return from PP for 4 of us (takes about 30 mins). The roads are dirty and busy so a tuk tuk would be a hairy experience and would take ages!

“Weirdly one of my best visits”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

An incredibly moving visit here. I spent a good half day here, much of it with tears streaming down my face. But we must relive these atrocities to ensure they don't happen again, although they do over and over again. The headphones are cheap and a must, very interesting stories from people who survived. Take a walk around the lake and sit and listen to the stories from these people , it can do nothing but move you to tears,

“To see it, is to sadly believe it”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Not a place you'd want to take the family if you're looking for a day of fun and smile. But for education and to truly get a feel for Cambodia and the amazing, but unfortunate people who have lived there and through it's terrible past, it's worth a visit.

“Killing fields of Cambodia”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Frightening and a testament to man's inhumanity towards man. Just as bad as the Holocaust where innocents were put to death for no reason other than the whims of cruel despots.
Not for the faint hearted but a must see for a reality check on Cambodia in the past.
