“away from the backpackers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013

this hotel is far away from the backpacker district, but it has averything you need in walking distance: restaurants, a good market, a shopping mall with a decent food court and shops to buy whatever you might need without getting the overpriced tourist thing.

if you don't want to see only tourists and hear the words: motobike, tuk tuk and marihuana and /or "you need a lady?" then this is the place for you.

it is a huge building with hundreds of rooms, with hot water in a proper shower, sattellite tv and A/C. the staff speaks a little english and will not try to sell you a tour or a bus ticket, the rooms are clean, big and if you are on the higher floors you get a nice view of the city.

Room Tip: the higher the floor the less you hear from the street

$15 to stay here, perfect hot water shower and large beds, the wifi was a little slow but for this price you cannot complain! $2 tuk tuks to town and they even kept our bags in a closet after we checked out. Highly Recomended

Room Tip: all rooms have really nice views over the city

We wanted to avoid the spendy tourist areas but wanted a clean safe place to stay. This worked just fine. Everthing u need is closeby. Restaurants shops tuk tuns. Its in a good location to get to many things. It is very basic. Decent beds clean rooms air conditioning works there are no other services like breakfast or much help from desk but it wasn't important to us.

This place is fine for a cheap, fairly clean stopover but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to use the hotel for anything other than to sleep. There is no communal area and no restaurant nearby - very far from the nearest restaurant/shop area. Definitely not for backpackers as there is no chance to get to know other people here.

The rooms are very soulless but they are quite clean, spacious and have good air con.

This was a great hotel, friendly staff (although not all spoke a lot of English). For $15 a night we got a very large room with a great bathroom with a double and a single bed in it for three people. Large colour TV and modern aircon included.
A possible drawback for tourists is the location, it's not in a particularly touristy area, but with tuk-tuks so cheap we didn't see this as an issue. And a bonus if you stay there on the weekend is all the weddings in the restaurants along the street with Cambodians in their glamorous outfits spilling out into the street.

A group of 8 of us stayed here for 2 nights. The price was the most attractive feature and I actually got more than expected for £7 per night.

The rooms here are actually of a good size as are the 1 single and 1 double beds found in most of our rooms. The bathrooms consist of a shower, toilet and sink, these were satisfactory. There are good size tvs in each room and a little seating area. The location is a bit far out from the river, we required Tuk Tuk transport which was always available outside the hotel and if not would be called for by the staff.

What let the hotel down was the evening customer service: we had 3 in a room, there was 1 towel only, in other rooms there were no towels at all. I also required extra pillows as I developed a visibly nasty leg injury and had to keep my leg raised as adviced by the hospital. When we requested these the staff declined saying towels and pillows were locked away. We have to beg in the end and only received one pillow, we did not receive one towel per person.

Overall the service was good, especially with the little English that was spoken and the fact we could only speak basic Khmer phrases. The morning/day staff were helpful and polite in their manner, they even assisted in arranging taxis and calling for Tuk Tuk's. The cleaners too were very polite and even helped me to my room from the lift when I struggled to walk. We left iPads and other belongings in the room which were not touched by staff, they were very trustworthy. It was just a shame the evening staff had not prepared for us and were not willing to readily or happily assist. I would not choose to go back to this hotel for leisure, but for a cheap stay before jet setting off elsewhere it is just right!
