You can see the way the people were imprisoned.
Good to meet Bou meng and Chum Mey ( 2 survivors of the Khmer Rouge Genocide) telling their story. You can buy their books.

I've seen a lot of complaints on here about people not liking that this location should not be a tourist attraction. However, Phnom Penh did a fabulous job of making this place an educational experience, with the obvious intent of warning others of the dangers that can exist with any form of power, authority, government, or state. Don't come here for the shock factor, visit this place to show respect to all of the innocent lives lost, and to get a better grasp on what the Khmer people have gone through in very recent history.
This is one location that I recommend having a tour guide for.
Also, there is no toilet paper in the bathrooms, and the hoses are at like 100 psi, so consider yourself warned.

Again a somber place to visit but a must see to get a feel for Cambodia & what the local people had to endure from their own. Still cannot understand what Pot Pol Khmer Rouge had to gain, just crazy mad stuff. Happy the people are now much better off.

Our visit to S-21 prison was insightful....great display of pictures however I thought the prison could have been better preserved. Its hard to tell whats actually original or what has been changed etc. However the highlight for all of us was meeting the two survivors at the end of our walk around the prison, this was a very humbling experience for us and somehow made the whole thing shockingly real.
