“Be Aware Very Aware”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

We arrived after a great stay in Siam Reap and were expecting the same, however we were dismayed with what we encountered. we arrived in the afternoon and were taken to our room, Well we walked in and turned on the a/c and after 4 hours still hotter than outside. My wife Tanya tried to have a nap but the noise from construction drills and smell from downstairs made that impossible. Tanya went down to reception and politely demanded we be shifted. The Bell boy was very polite but said that is normal but we perseverded and eventually ended up in a room on the other side of the complex. The view of the surrounding roofs was great. Thought we might order a bucket of ice to enjoy a cold drink while room cooled down. Finally arrived after trying to express to room service that we wanted ice and then charged $1 for the priveledge. We then went down to reception where bellboy asked if we wanted a Tuktuk, we said OK and he had a discussion with a driver. Trip advisor said $2-3 should cover cost. Well driver said he needed $6 as he had to pay half to bellboy. Walk out the front and get your own. Our driver ended up being very good and a very good guide.Generally I would say that the Juliana is not as they describe,a general lack of basic english from front desk staff is poor. No tour advice is available and no knowledge was diplayed. Breakfast and meals are very poor. We returned 4 days later (not our choice as included in agents deal) and boy I did not realise rooms could get worse. When having a shower water ran everywhere but down the drain, the view out window as of rusted roofs.

We were there during the fire. The hotel handled the situation well, and found us good accommodation within 2 hours of the fire. Up until then we found the hotel fine, and breakfast okay. You can walk into town and the market, its not as isolated as you think.
I hope the hotel adopts battery backup for the alarm system this time this did not go off after the power cut. So getting down three smoke filled flights, and then exiting a side entrance could have been made difficult had we not had torches. I hope the Hotel is up and running before Christmas

Room Tip: 20 minute walk to town if you are up for it

looks great in the pictures but dont be fooled.. We have stayed at 5 different hotels this trip and all are excellent until the juliana.. staff at check in were so unfriendly she basically grunted.. we then were led down the dark hallways to our room. We turned the air con on and i thought i was on the runway next to a 747 jet.. Then i had a shower but no hot water, so i call reception they check and say no its all good... we just come back from breakfast which was not up to standard apart from the omelete that was sensational... The worst thing is the location is to far from the main tourist hubs.... oh well you win some you lose some.

Room Tip: go to another hotel

I was impressed with the room I had on the two occasions I stayed at this hotel - spacious, clean, comfortable rooms with large modern bathroom. The pool area was great, large pool and very relaxing area. The pool in the centre of the hotel gave the hotel a good feel, spacious and open. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to get a taxi or tuktuk outside the hotel. The hotel also organised a taxi for a full day of sightseeing. The driver was friendly and happy to drive wherever I wanted to go. Being a single female traveller I felt very comfortable and safe going an hour out of the city. Would definitely stay here again.

ease to access and good smiley service. I used a function room for 20 people for seminar and continuously dinning. The location is quite for for shopping area. But if you have a good walking by 10 mins, you can buy something at shopping area. The around hotel is 80% safety for walking till midnight.

Room Tip: partial are on renovation....keep no comment

If you are coming to Phnom Penh for a relaxing time by the pool with good safe food (I.e. food that won't upset your stomach) this is the place for you. Amazing staff and great clean rooms with the most comfortable pillows I have found in Cambodia. However if you are here to see the sights it is a little out of the city, very manageable but tuk tuks into town are $3 each way.
It is a great place though, beautiful big pool and gym area.

We spent two days in this very nice hotel. Accommodation was excellent, rooms are spacious and have interesting design, everything is very tidy and clean and has a touch of warmth and welcome. Location seemed weird, its entrance was almost hidden, and you go through very strange street with car repair shops to come to it. General location is OK, it is full of big University/Government buildings, and you feel safe, only the street it is in is :-(
Staff is very helpful and kind, all compliments. Pool is very clean and well kept, pretty silent, nice for hanging around on the afternoon. Food was great in the restaurant, and if you don't feel like going out, have a nice dinner in Vanda. Little tip: Order Green curry in Banana leaf and enjoy it with someone you love.
