“Count on them for a good stay.”
Reviewed 30 March 2013

On a fair note, let me speak on the good points first.
GOOD :

Opposite kindergartens and schools = greater security and in a better vicinity of the city. So i feel safer and definitely its nice and quiet.

The owner is always around in the mornings and evenings, which means that anytime you have something that you are not too happy with , voice it out and it gets amended within the day itself. We had dinner there on our first night and had requested to have in room 1 hr massage services, the ladies arrived and verbally agreed to start 15 mins later at 8.45 instead of the agreed 8,30PM, however the massage abruptly ended at 9.30 without warning and the ladies blamed it on us for being late. We were alittle upset and told the owner about the misunderstanding. We were surprised that he came forward the next morning with a free hour massage for us that evening. That is what is call FANTASTIC & IMMEDIATE RECOVERY SERVICE. WE are very appreciative of that.

We were also given a no window, no any outlet kind of room and they promptly shifted us to one that has a window but its a double room so my husband and I slept on separate beds for a night. The following two nights, we had a room with window and a king bed. Doesnt matter what it is, most importantly, the service was prompt and no sign that we were troublesome although I know that I was one whiny!

The sheets are ironed on your bed when they make it in the morning, so it looks perfect all the time.

Breakfast is limited in choices but I love it! I get more slices of bread if I want more and do try the fried rice, its awesome! Simple and tasty. I wont change a thing about the breakfast, except for a bigger portion!

oh oh one more thing : There are great restaurants a 5 mins walk away like Magnolia Vietnames restaurant. Amazing great Viet food for two pax under USD$20. MUST TRY!

BAD :
Toilet drainage is indeed a real big problem. I didnt voice it out because I know it cant be solved in a day. The funny thing is the shower curtain closes the shower area AND the toilet bowl together. So when you take a shower, not only the water do not drain well, leaving you splashing in used bath water, your toilet bowl gets all wet. So its really annoying that everytime after a shower, if you do need to use the toilet, you have to wipe it dry. And obviously showering in a 2 cm high depth of used bath water doesnt make you feel too clean. The only way to get round it is to shower and swipe the water towards the drainage with your feet at the same time. Not cool at all. That is one thing that needs to be corrected ASAP!

Dinner menu looked fantabulous but most of the glam items that I picked were out. Apparetly the chef was on a holiday. So I wont know.

On the overall, the human factors made this an AWESOME STAY. FOr the heart , smiles and sincereity everyone had in this little boutique hotel. I only have one word to say - FANTABULOUS!

Room Tip: Room 18 has no windows and on cafe side. Rm 20 has bad drainage and my wet toilet bowl...read the st...

The rooms are clean and look amazing, the staff are all fantastic and very helpful whenever you need something. Veng and his wife Rona take care of everything with a smile and really go that extra mile to make you feel at home. Its very hot in Phnom Penh right now so the pool is a massive bonus to this place. I will tell others to stay here.

Located in a very quiet and very clean quarter, the Hilary's is a excellent quality/price ratio.
The Hotel is extremely clean, decorated with taste. The staff is very attentive, charming and efficient. The swimming pool surrounded by the frangipanis is an oasis of freshness.
Now, I will never go more elsewhere

after reading the glowing reviews in trip advisor i booked six nights here .to put it mildly this place over represents itself,i booked a deluxe room with a private balcony and after a long flight from australia we were initialy put in a room with no window and certainly no balcony.we were then moved to another room with no window or balcony, the next day i asked to be moved to the room i had booked, they simply dont exist.finally got moved to the top floor to a single room at the top of a very steep flight of stairs that was very small for two people.the shower drainage did not work and you end up splashing around in used shower water.the breakfast menu was limited,ok if you like eggs everyday as there wasnt much choice otherwise.the dinner menu wasnt much better.the only positives here are the pool and the very friendly staff[alin in paricular]and its quiet location.could not recommend this hotel at the prices they want for very average rooms.

Room Tip: top floor room has use of the balcony oveerrlooking the pool but its a single room and quite small f...

New boutique hotel let down by plumbing and lack of hot water. Otherwise a clean room and pool. Good breakfast and occasional meals - nothing exotic but well presented. We went there because somewhere else was full and felt we could have done worse

We spent two nights at Hilary's Boutique Hotel. It was very comfortable though we would have liked a room with a window, When we asked we were told there was not one available till the second night and we decided it was not worth changing for a single night.
It is a very attractively fitted hotel, very clean and well kept, with a small pool big enough in which to cool off after a day sightseeing. The staff were all very helpful with taxis and information and were very friendly. The hotel is well walled off from the street, so is quiet, calm and the courtyard is shaded by very attractive plantings
There is a small restaurant on the premises that will produce food and drinks on call.
The food is not special, but for a quick snack is fine and the breakfast is good.
Altogether a hotel to recommend

Room Tip: If it is important to you, make sure you have a room with a window.

I made a few visits to PP when staying in Cambodia and on both occasions chose to stay at Hilary's. This hotel made my time in PP an aboslute pleasure - the beds were comfortables and large, ac was cold, the staff were friendly and always willing to help with information and the swimming pool was kept immaculately clean. After a day of walking around hot PP it was a real treat to be able to come back to this delightful hotel and relax by the pool, with its beautiful garden.

The rooms were cleanded and servived every day which was wonderful and although I think the breakfast menu could be expanded a little more to include maybe meusli or cereal, what was served for breakfast was always fresh and served with a smile - so I was happy.

The hostel is located in a delightful area of PP - you dont feel harassed when you walk out onto the street here, there are lots of spas nearby if you want to spoil yourself with a treatment and also lots of places to eat and do some shopping, that are not too touristy. The tuk tuk men who wait outside are always smiling and I used them on a couple of trips to sites in and around PP and they always offered a reasonable price (and I was on a budget).

When I left PP for a few days, the hotel was happy to store my bag free of charge for when I returned which was greatly appreciated.

Okay the bathroom drainage wasn't perfect - but the showers were spotless and considering this is a hotel that has only been open 6 months - there will always be some design flaws that need to be overcome - I would not let a bit of water on the bathroom floor stop you from staying here.
