I stayed at the Frangipani for 5 nights while my husband was in Phnom Penh for meetings. Good things - very close to Russian Market and lots of restaurants; nice pool; friendly staff. I feel like the housekeeping staff are poorly trained. When I checked into my room, I had only one bath towel, one robe, and no case on one of the pillows. Also, the trash had not been emptied from the previous guest. I had to ask the staff twice to bring those items up to my room. The next time we had the room cleaned, a roll of toilet paper was in the sink - very strange. Otherwise, the hotel seems about average in comfort and cleanliness. But I would probably stay here again because of the location. I had to check out one night early, and although they wouldn't give me a refund for the one night because I'd booked through Agoda, they did allow one of my friends to use the room for the night so she could use the pool. Happy compromise!

We absolutely loved this place. We stayed for 3 nights and we were delighted with it. Amazing value for money. Cute little rooms - quite basic, but for the money you pay, it's above and beyond what you expect. Fantastic rooftop pool and bar - a nice surprise when we arrived. The food on offer on the roof could do with a little more inspiration, but there's plenty of authentic Khmer places on its doorstep, so not a big problem. Extremely friendly staff, lovely breakfasts and fantastic location - the back door leads out on to the amazing Russian Markets - another great surprise! If you're looking for something easy, simple and clean without all the bells and whistles, this is the place! Thanks to all the staff for making it so pleasant.

I was very hopeful for this hotel but very sadly let down! Upon arriving check in was very unorganized. The hotel and rooms are simply disgusting! Run down and not cleaned properly. My sink and bathroom toiletries were covered in lizard feces. I am an expat in Asia, I understand the geckos! But really? From the time the room was cleaned till we checked in at 4:30 this happened. Also no safe in room! Or any rooms! No fitness facility as stated on website! This is a poor excuse for a hotel, ruined my vacation. I will say the rooftop bar was nice, good food and good service.

This hotel is definitely a mixed bag. Pros: the rooms are reasonably spacious, very clean, and the decor is cool and interesting; the pool area is beautiful, and again, spotlessly clean; the breakfast buffet had a good selection and good quality of foods (including the most "American" cup of coffee I've found in Cambodia); the staff is friendly and tries to accommodate.

The Cons: the hotel is not conveniently located, so if you want to do pretty much anything, it will involve a $3-$5 tuk tuk ride; while there is lots of surface space in the rooms, there's not much in the way of storage- if you want to hang anything your only options are some pegs awkwardly located over a long counter; there's a rather odd odor in the hallways; while the staff is friendly, and tries to accommodate, there don't seem to be nearly enough of them - at least at the front desk and restaurant areas.

Overall, the place is more or less reasonably priced, and will do in a pinch, but I suspect there are better values to be found.

The picture that they post on trip advisor is a bit deceiving since I presumed that was the entry lobby (similiar to the W style hotel). That picture is the 12th floor sky bar with pool. The hotel is a bit too quirky for my taste. The rooms are nice but there is no safe. They say they have a spa--but its really only two rooms. I wouldn't call that a spa. The price was decent $ 40 per night but it is away from the main area. If we hadn't paid in advance we probably would have chosen another place but it is ok for a night. There is nothing particularly wrong with the place but there is nothing great either.
