“Nice but not great”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

It was the end of my trip. I wanted somewhere nice with a pool but it was too small and was in the middle of the building on the ground floor so was overlooked by people entering the hotel and the restaurant. The room itself was big and nicely decorated but for a new hotel the bathroom was not great. The finishing paint work was sloppy. It looked worn rather than new. Room service food was ok but breakfast was better although limited selection. The spa was the best thing about the hotel. The girls did an excellent job. The massage was really good. The roof top bar looked like a really nice place to sit and chill out. However, the hotel location is a bit of a let down. Other than the Russian market there is little around and it's far from the main tourist sites. It wasn't too much of a problem for me as I had already seen everything but if it's your first visit then be prepared to take tuk tuk everywhere.

We booked an upgraded room for ~52 USD as a couple, advertised as having 'city views'.

What we got was 2 single beds, a tiny room, with damaged wallpaper. A dirty, smelly bathroom (which has no windows that could open). The bathroom door has a window on it??? Our city views consisted of viewing 1 wall of the neighbouring apartment building.

The TV remote did not work, but Worst of all the aircon did not work!! Not fun in PP summer

The saving grace was the roof top bar and friendly staff.

We were here for one night, during our vacation in Cambodia and the experience we had was very bad! The first thing I noticed were the cigarettes butts on the floor (in a non-smoking room). Then, we had no pillow cases and the sheets had stains on! The bathroom very small and uncleaned. And, like a lovely surprise, I found a dead kitchen bug in front of my door in the morning. The breakfast was ok, but the line at the buffet was too long and the replenishment of the trays very slow. I wouldn't go there again and I don't recommend it!

This is a really sweet hotel and well located. I was only there 2 days but the front desk was beyond helpful as addresses in Phnom Penh can make things tough.
The room was clean and comfortable and as is the norm in Asia breakfast was included. Basic buffet.
The odd thing was the roof bar which when I went up to about 8 pm, was deserted and seemingly closed down.
Anway nice hotel fair price and in a country where there are no chains these guys do a nice albeit simplistic job.

Room Tip: Try and get a front facing room so you can look out over the street and the fine arts museum

I have stayed at the Frangipani Fine Arts Hotel many times, for different lengths of time ranging from a few nights to a month. Each time I was greeted with great service and good rooms. The hotel is in the mid-range price range for Phnom Penh and has a great downtown location. Good if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Riverside area. The staff are accomodating and the owners and management pay close attention to the guests and their requirements.

The area is conveniently located near the Russian Market, which is a good shopping spot (check the shops around the outskirts of the market too). There are a few nice restaurants in the area too, including boat noodles, Japanese, and American. For KFC lovers, there's a branch near the Russian Market.

The hotel itself has all the amenities you may want. There's a spa, 2 pools, a rooftop bar, internet and wifi access throughout, meeting and conference rooms, breakfast buffet, airport pickup and dropoff service, laundry, and room service.

Room Tip: My favourite rooms are the ones facing the road and the river. The balconies are more private and th...

We arrived around 9pm, the counter gave us a room with sting smell. We thought that might be the humidity from the bathroom. I sprayed with Sakura body spray trying to get rid of the smell ~ unsuccessful.
We called for asking to change a room. They were quick to offer us a new room. The second room is better but the smell make you feel uneasy.
However, generally the structure of the hotel is just weird. The smell, they tried to use the aroma therapy but sometimes they forgot, make you feel uncomfortable living inside.
We won't recommend this place as you don't feel relaxed living in there!!

We stayed here for one night and had expected the place to be cleaner and warmer, based on what we've read online. However, things were not as good as we had expected. The room and food were just below average. It was more like a youth centre than a proper "hotel & spa". Absolutely over-rated.
