“Lovely hotel with excellent service”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

We stayed here during our tour of Cambodia and it really is a gem of a hotel. All staff were, without exception, very polite and very helpful. Whilst not situated in the centre of all the restaurants and shops of Phnom Pen there was always a tuk-tuk waiting outside to take you wherever you wanted. Coming back to the hotel was interesting as not all the tuk tuk drivers knew where the hotel was but this didnt make us anxious at all as we always got there, albeit eventually.

The food was very good and breakfast cooked to order. The Spa treatments were wonderful and just what you needed after a days sight seeing. My husband had the Khmer massage and claimed it was the best he'd ever had!

The room was spacious and very clean especially as a proper extra bed had been put in the room for my son (as compared to a bed settee) and, as noted on previous reviews, whilst this hotel is on the main road you can hardly hear the traffic. The shower was huge - more like a wet room to cool down in after a days sight seeing.

The hotel is small but this made it all the more personal and, out of all the hotels we stayed in during our tour of Hong Kong, Vietnam and Cambodia this was by far the most memorable.

We arrived after a very hot and long drive from Siem Reap. We arrived to be met by the manager Manny and were made to feel very welcome with a lovely cold towel and cool drink. We were shown to our room, 101 and I was worried about the noise as it was on the first floor, there was no need to the room is so quiet and very industrial chic. After a long hot day the rain shower was amazing. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious, but the highlight for me was the coffee, best coffee in Cambodia. All of the little touches that make this place special like a little dish to put your jewellery in the safe, and to our surprise an Australian power point in our room. This is THE place to stay when in this part of the world. The staff and management cannot be faulted.

I would heartily recommend staying in this absolutely adorable little boutique hotel situated centrally in Phnom Penh within easy walking distance to the Russian Market. I had the pleasure of staying there for 3 nights during a short stopover in Cambodia, and it was one of the highlights of my Asian holiday, which also included staying in a number of resort complexes in Bali. La Rose only has a few rooms, but we stayed in a beautifully appointed, spacious, air conditioned twin room with a very large en suite bathroom. The decor was extremely tasteful, and there was an extremely high level of cleanliness throughout. There was a lovely little welcoming basket with a selection of fresh local fruit on our arrival.
The staff were extremely friendly and courteous, and one of the waitresses even tried to teach us a few words of Khmer. The star of the hotel has to be Mr Many Young, who met us on arrival, and made an effort to chat with us every day to ensure that we were getting the most from our stay. He was extremely accommodating, and really went out of his way to help us.
The hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, all in the Khmer style (which is delicious), and there were European options as well.
I arranged a couple of days of touring through the hotel by emailing them in advance, so we had a 1 day tour by tuk tuk which included the Genocide Museum, Russian market and Royal Palace. The following day we had a bicycle tour to a silk farm in the countryside which involved a quick ferry trip across the Mekong river. On the third day we opted to do a half day Khmer cookery course which involved a trip to the Russian market to buy our food, and then instruction on the preparation of a Khmer 3 course meal in La Rose's kitchen. There was also an option to spend 1 full day learning the basics of Khmer massage, but we decided to do the cookery course instead.
Our stay in La Rose also included complimentary Khmer massages which we unlike any sort of massage I had experienced before. It was a dry massage, and involved a lot of stretching. It certainly worked out all the knots! My advice would be that if you have never experienced this sort of massage before to try the "soft" massage to get a feel for things, as the "medium" and "strong" are quite deep tissue. We also had facials and body scrubs and masks, and thoroughly enjoyed our spa pampering!
La Rose is a real jewel in Phnom Penh, and is extremely well run. However, there did not appear to be any lifts, so wheelchair access may be a problem.

A lovely welcome, beautiful room and ongoing care from all staff. The food was delicious as well! Many, the General Manager welcomed us personally and our booking also included a free massage. The room was spacious and clean and you couldn't hear the noise from the road. The hotel is in a good location and had a tuk tuk driver who was always available for us. The hotel were very helpful and booked our onward bus trip for us, arranging for us to be collected from the hotel. Amazing service, brilliant value for money and a very relaxing place to stay.

My partner and I were lucky enough to spend two nights at La Rose Boutique Hotel & Spa back in July and it was a fantastic piece of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh city centre.

On arrival, Many and the staff greeted us with a much-needed welcome drink before showing us upstairs to our room. This is the first hotel ever where I've even been fascinated with the corridors, let alone just the room! There was a lovely pebble feature running along the floor and peaceful music playing in the background. Lovely!

Our room was great. It had an incredible four poster bed, a sitting area, a desk, free fruit, a spacious bathroom with a bath tub and separate shower and - like every hotel should have, but doesn't - a massage table!!! This was the icing on the cake - our very own massage table! (If you don't want to do it yourself, they also have a fantastic spa to get it done properly! Or they can come and teach you in your room!)

Our room faced out on to Norodom Boulevard, but this really wasn't an issue as no sound could be heard through the windows. The hotel is located a little out of the centre, but this adds to the peaceful vibe and there are always tuk tuk drivers waiting outside to take you wherever you need to go. The hotel can arrange a price for you and it's always very reasonable, whether just in to town or to the killing fields.

We sampled many dishes at the hotel's restaurant during our stay, all of which were excellent! The best food we ate in Cambodia by far. I can highly recommend the chocolate cake on the dessert menu! Breakfast was great too. Plenty of choice and more than enough to keep you going throughout the day.

I could easily have spent many more nights at La Rose. We were made to feel so at home by all the staff who never failed to meet our needs with a smile. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Phnom Penh and hope to return there again myself one day in the future.

First thing first: The staffs are very humble and extremely hospitable. When we got down from taxi we were invited by bunch of staffs by traditional style welcome and lobby Manager Mr. Manny was right there welcoming us personally!

When we read the review in trip advisor before the reservation we found lots of reviews praising Mr. Manny Young. We were bit skeptical about that. How could one person could be so nice to many people? Well Mr. Manny was indeed the best part of the hotel. He takes his job personally and he treats every single guests as his own guest at his home. He took care of our travel needs, taxis, massage, even arranged a thermometer when our son got sick!

Breakfast got limited choices and food was very tasty including dinner. Only drawbacks were narrow corridors, no elevators, rooms are bit smaller. The safety lockers boxes were not anchored and anybody could take the entire box if he manage to enter the room!

He entire hotel is spa and they do better job than a regular spa. Bit pricey, but it was all worth it.

I would definitely recommend only for the couples only since this hotel may not be suitable for kids.

Room Tip: Watch out the steps, due to uneven sizes sometimes you might end up in tripping!

Great place with friendly management and nice touch of Khmer culture, definitely worth the experience!
Also very convenient location, close to the center and most of the best restaurants and bars in town.
