“A great accommodation choice in Phnom Penh”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

The Teahouse really is GREAT value for money. The standard of the rooms, facilities, pool etc were all great. Though the stand out for me was the professional and friendly service from the staff - they were superb. I came back to stay here a second time after travelling around the country and had to change my plans at the last minute. It was all arranged by email and the staff were accommodating and professional. Would definitely stay again on a future trip to Phnom Penh.

We booked into the tea house for 2 nights. From the moment we walked through the front entrance our stay was nothing but tranquil. For the price we paid ($35/night) the hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was clean, spacious though a little rustic. Another word that is appropriate is 'character' which sums up the TeaHouse.

The standout feature of the hotel was the price board for tuk tuks on the front perimeter fence. Knowing a Reasonable price helped us navigate through many trips while in Cambodia. Of course, where service exceeded expectation we were more than happy to tip.

Breakfast was the best of our Vietnam/Cambodia adventures and this was half price compared to other places we stayed.

We booked our bus to Siem Reap through the hotel and decided to stay again the night before leaving Cambodia due to our positive experience.

Excellent service and clean accommodations. The pool was under construction but guests were offered a complimentary drink every day as an apology for the inconvenience caused. Upon check-in, we were welcomed with a drink and received a free upgrade.

Breakfast had a good selection of food and its quality was acceptable.
We saw a couple of cockroaches in the room but nothing too dramatic.

I recommend this hotel, definitely expected less for the price we paid.

Dear Guest, many thanks for your nice review. Since your stay, we have completed the pool... and drowned a few cockroaches, so those should not be around any more! Cheers, Alexis

We got a good deal for this hotel on Agoda and had a lovely time. The pool is nice and decor in the lobby is great. The rooms were nice, a tad on the aging side (raggedy towels, drab curtains) but the bed was really comfortable and there was a large tub with very hot water, which was great! The spa is the hotel has good prices and they did a good job at adapting the head, neck, and shoulder massage as I can't lie on my stomach (I'm pregnant). The included breakfast is fine, the eggs were great (made to order), fresh fruit, and a few other good choices.

Knowing Phnom Penh as the noisy chaotic (yet amazing!) city it is from a previous visit, I wanted to make sure we had somewhere to relax. The Teahouse turned out to be the perfect choice.

From the moment we checked in we were treated well, with a free welcome drink and porter service to our room. We had a standard double but it was beautiful with a huge comfy bed, large TV and fridge. The bathroom was lovely with the best shower I've had in SE Asia. Outside was a nice shared balcony area where you could watch over the city.

The included breakfast was so, so good. Granted, we rarely stay anywhere with it included, and then it is just bread and jam but we like our food and the buffet did not disappoint. Good mixture of Asian and western food, and lots of fruit and salad. The pool was beautiful and a great place to relax after a day sightseeing. The happy hour was a great excuse to enjoy a cocktail by the pool.

Staff were attentive and very friendly, and the whole place just seemed so well thought out. I can literally find nothing wrong with this place, for us it is perfect. Location was decent, with some cheap eating options around. Tuk Tuk prices are posted outside on a board which I'm not sure if a good idea or not because you have no bargaining power after that. Slightly annoying the minimum to go anywhere seems to be $2 but that's Phnom Penh these days and no fault of the hotel.

Only slight criticism is the laundry cost, which is charged per item and very expensive when compared to the laundry shop down the road which did it for $1 or $1.25 a kilo.

We paid $33 a night which is at the top of our back/flashpacker budget but it was well, well worth it.

Arriving at Tea House you can immediately see the quality of the hotel, boasting a nice exterior and a large lobby with welcoming staff. The rooms are large and very clean with a newly laid bathroom and shower. The rooms contain a safe to lock away your belongings, a decent sized TV and a fridge. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, considering what we had had thus far on our trip.

The pool was being renovated whilst we were there... it actually opened the day we left back in May. It is a bit odd that you need to walk through the restaurant to get to the pool, but thats the design. The buffet breakfast was fantastic! Omelette bar, many types of bread, sausages, potatoes, a good selection of fruits with juice, water, coffee and tee available too. All of high quality.

Only thing I would avoid from this hotel is the massage. They offer a discount but these were unfortunately the worst we had over the trip across Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

Would definitely return!
