“Friendly, clean & great value for money.”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this small, professional well managed hotel. Even though I was traveling on business, the hotel and it's cheerful staff helped me to chill out in the evenings and really relax.
Excellent pool, outdoor bar and restaurant area. Overall i would say it was clean, laid back and great value for money. Happy days!

A lovely hotel that is worth it price! Very friendly and helpful staff and a very nice pool area. The size of the room was okay but the bed was a bit hard. The breakfast was great as you could choose what you liked (from a set menu). I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

Stayed in a ground floor room by the pool. All the reviews are right. Billabong is a haven in the chaos that is Phnom Penh. The pool a welcome relief from the humidity.

The rooms are more than adequate, exceptionally clean with great AC. Owner Larry is very welcoming and is supported by an exceptional staff who cannot do enough to help and make you feel very much at home. Loved it and wouldn't stay anywhere else in PP.

Overall, The Billabong Hotel lived up to the praises we saw online and is definitely value for money. It is located just 10-minutes away from the Central Market and Soyra Shopping Centre (where you can find a local supermarket that has all the groceries you need). Heading to the Riverside or Royal Palace will take less than 10 minutes and costs US$2.

We stayed at a standard room without pool view which faces the back of another building that is only a few metres apart. The room is well-furnished and the beds are comfortable. The satellite TV has all the major international channels. The only complaint is that the bathroom had an odour from the drains. It wouldn't go away even if you turn the exhaust fans on for the whole day. We had to keep the bathroom doors closed to prevent the odour from spreading outside of the bathroom. The shower is relatively weak but sufficiently hot. There is no showering tub, so the water will run across half of the bathroom floor.

The swimming pool, unlike most hotels, does not have an opening hour. You can dive in anytime you want and it is a great relief from the hustle and bustle (notably keen tuk-tuk drivers) of Cambodia's capital.

We loved their breakfast which has a wide selection from fried rice to omelette to fruit salad. And comes with a free cup of coffee, tea or fruit juice. You'd be enjoying breakfast looking at the beautiful pool.

The staff are very attentive and helpful. They were happy to help us cut our fruits we purchased from outside. If you have questions about the city, you can approach the front desk. Good job, Team Billabong!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the pool is definitely more attractive (although slightly more expensive). Rooms th...

Our room was originally on the 3rd floor, up some very steep stairs with no hand rails. I thought that as we were staying for 3 nights, it would be better if we were on the ground floor!. This was sorted very quickly and the staff moved us into a lovely room. Very much appreciated. All staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a lovely relaxing atmosphere in the eating area around the pool. Good airconditioning, but sometimes the supply of towels and soap replacement was a bit "hit and miss"! Walking distance to supermarket and Central Markets. Would stay here again if back in Phnom Penh.

My stay started very well with an upgrade to a deluxe room (room 31) :) Besides that I have to say it is the best choice for a city hotel. I book it based on price and the swimming pool. No regret. You can swim at your ease, the swimming pool is big. Lucky me there was no children during my stay. It is so warm in Phnom Penh that you are happy to be back there! I originally booked for 3 nights and extended for 2 extra.
Breakfast is good and restaurant too. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is well located and you will easily have a tuk tuk or scooter to take you anywhere. The room are cool, I mean simply decorated, not kitsch, clean, spacious and quiet. I had a nice balcony with view on the swimming pool and the sun coming in, so it is bright enough. I comment on this as I was sick at the end of my stay and well it was nice to have this room to rest in. One little detail is that I liked the bed sheets, very soft and lovely to sleep like a baby with the air-co.
You can either have a peaceful stay or talk with others customers. Guests were friendly too. It is not fancy neither basic, just good balance to enjoy your stay.
I need to return to the city to take my next flight and well I am staying there again.

I stayed here for five nights in early June 2012. Rooms are cool and very clean. The pool is a welcome relief from the Cambodian heat. The food and the customer service was always very good. This hotel is close to Lucky supermarket and a tuk tuk ride away from most attractions. Spend the extra money, stay here. The best rooms are the ground floor ones next to the pool.
