Arranged to meet a friend here for breakfast prior to his arrival we ordered 2 juices, the wrong drinks arrived which would normally be simple to resolve. Instead of just correcting our order the staff began to argue with us and called their manager. We decided the best option would be to leave without creating a scene. Before we could the manager began to shout and threaten us, making us pay two dollars before kicking us out of the restaurant. Our worst encounter in our two months in South East Asia. Avoid this place!

The room I had was clean, the food they serve is really expensive and not that great. The wifi don't work in the rooms on the 2nd floor plus they get very hot due to the sunlight. And if you have a room on the 1st floor, trust me it's gonna be noisy. Staff in general are Ok, when they don't try to sell you a tuktuk and get a commission or cash out of everything. There's planty of guest house around, just go have a look what they have to offer.

We recently stayed in a double room at white river for $6 a night. We hadn't booked anything prior to arriving at the capital city.

Good Points:
WiFi was strong
Good location
They have a pool table

Bad Points:
The sheets and towels were dirty

The room was very noisy at night(there are holes in the walls, so you can hear the bar pumping out music)

You are always pressured into trying to buy something. One of the owners kept pestering us every time he saw us to sell us cannabis. Probably 10 times a day.
They try to sell all of their tours and shooting range activities all the time. If you say you're walking over to a museum (as we were) they call up tuk tuks to wait outside to try and get us to go to the museum with them.

Overall we wouldn't stay again, there were many other options for similar prices in the area.

I stayed at White River II, and it wasn't half bad. The guys that run the place, especially at night, are very friendly. The food was good. The dorm was hot and relatively dirty, the bathroom was super tiny, and they pretty much never change the sheets. Gave me back all my laundry still pretty wet. But it couldn't have been too bad, because I stayed almost a whole week. Good location. Worth the $5 a night in my opinion.

We had the same story as others, off the bus and into a tuk tuk 3G service was bad so searching for somewhere to stay was difficult, driver took us here, tired and over it we allowed ourselves to be pressured and booked 1 night,
Everything was FILTHY the room smelt of raw sewage, air con was weak wifi also weak power tripping on and off,
Diddnt even want to put my sleeping bag on the bed
Took a sleeping tablet woke up and checked out at 6am
Never again

We thought this guesthouse was okay until we sent our laundry to be done. Half of our clothes came back ruined as they had mixed them with somebody else's laundry, in which the colours had run. The clothes were simply left for us with no apology or explanation and we found them later that day. They demanded the full price of the room from us, despite this being much more than it would cost us to replace our clothes. Not fair and not reasonable - don't get your laundry done here! Otherwise the room was okay, $15 for a room with air con and 2 double beds (although we only needed one). Street facing with a balcony so some noise but not unbearable. Good internet on all floors including in the room. The bathroom smelt a bit. The food is good and the common area comfortable. Just don't get into any disagreements with the staff, who are only interested in money.
