The Independence Monument celebrates the independence from the French colonial period. It is a tower/ stupa based on the design of the towers of Angkor Wat, in a park which acts as a large oblong roundabout.

It is pretty enough, especially at night but I don't think it's actually worthwhile visiting. There isn't anything to do there and there are no details to be seen close up. You are likely to pass the monument a couple of times during your stay and that should be sufficient.

Looks very nice at night time and it's an ode to the past, but there's nothing else going on. Walk around or brave the traffic to stand in the road for the best picture.

When travelling in Phnom Penh we tend to relate were we are in relation to various buildings and buildings. One of these is the Independence monument. This is a great monument during the day but when they switch on the colored lights and activate the fountains its is spectacular. Situated on Noradom Blvd and Sihanoukville Blvd it gives a great spot to get your bearings around the BKK1 area.

This is in the middle of the road nice but just drive past in your tuk tuk. Beautiful at night. Lots of night life happening around this area. A memorial to their history. Worth a quick drive past

It's a nice monument standing right in the road. However that's it. Just that.
You can ask your remork (tuktuk) driver to go around it once or twice but well there's nothing much to do with it.
