“Wat of luck”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

I just loved this sweet small Wat. I visited very early about 7am and went for an actual blessing and to pay respects to Buddha more than as a tourist site visit. It is very small and sits atop a hill. It is set in lush park area. You are asked to pay $1 and worth it. Money is used for upkeep of Wat and surrounds. The Wat is very popular with the locals as it is a Wat supposedly to bring luck.
My only downer and this is with Wats in a lot of places,is the caged birds that the hawkers want you to pay to release. I hate any form of animal cruelty. This was offputting to me.

“Nice but expected more”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

It is a nice temple on the top of a hill, but it looked more impressive from a distance. Once we were actually in the temple it was ok. This might also be because after traveling SEA for 3 weeks you are getting used to temples sadly enough. However once you've reached the top don't forget to come down by the back. There is a nice park with a wooden cobra in, if you are lucky you can even spot some monkeys in the park. For this entire experience you'll be asked to pay 1 dollar, I would say well worth it.

“underwhelming”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

When I first learned the Phnom meant 'hill' (or mountain), and there was a Wat with monkeys on a hill in the very flat city of Phnom Penh, I became ecstatic at the idea. Upon visiting, I could not help but feel somehow deflated. It is a very nice temple, and it is, indeed, atop a hill. Its just slightly less grand than I imagined...and I did not see a single monkey. It is worth a visit, for sure. Just do not get your expectations up. Also, be sure and buy a ticket before you ascend the stairways to the top.

“Watt Phnom”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

Visited in an afternoon, very nice place, peacefull after the caos of PP. There is a Stupa that preserves the ashes of a king of the XIV century .Here there are many other temples. Entrance fee 1$ only for foreigners, it is a contribution to support the site.

“Look out for the cobra!”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

Good place to chill and relax a little from al the walking on one of the benches. Apparently sometimes there's monkeys playing here as well, but we didn't see any. The inside of the pagoda is worth the climb up the stairs. Beautiful murals from Buddha will await you. Surprisingly you are allowed to take pictures inside. Cobra out the back is pretty quirky.

Tip: Across the street from Wat Phnom are a couple of really nice places for a traditional Khmer massage.
