“Refurbished 60's? Hotel firetrap!”
Reviewed 26 February 2013

Hotel is apparently an old Sheraton down on its luck with a little capital invested in window dressing.
The fire escape is blocked on each of its seven floors with impenetrable glazing. In addition there is a 5 meter wide open stairway from bottom to top.
It has a bar and night club on the first floor with loud music until 3 am. And a KTV on the second.
The breakfast is barely edible.
It has a fairly nice pool about 12 meters long on the third floor.
Staff tries very hard but is up against the odds.

I usually don't think about fire or exit strategies but my friend happened to notice there were none in this seven story building. What makes this dangerous is that there is a KTV-Disco in the third floor and people can smoke in there. We asked the manager if we were missing something and even showed him our concerns and he just shrugged his shoulders. Had no clue what we were talking about. Combine this with the disco thumping until 5AM and I would say it was not a good experience. Plenty of really nice hotels in Phnom Penh though.

Another stay at the Casa. I felt maybe it had lost a little of its sparkle this time. Open, relatively opulent reception area. Staff still lovely. Floors 4 and 5 are tired, reminiscent of earlier days, but you do pay less for these rooms. Floors 6 and 7 have been upgraded. Big rooms, nice bathroom, finish quality could be better. Very clean room, crisp clean linen each day, soft fluffy towels. I just love the super-kingsize beds, ideal for more than 1 or 2 friends. Big window facing the Tonle Sap and a great view if you are on the 7th floor. Breakfast has slipped, I gather a change in the chef or kitchen staff. Barely adequate now and didn't seem to change much day to day. I would suggest an improvement in the breakfast and I also think this area needs to be refreshed with a paintjob. I noticed the odd fly in the breakfast area whereas before there were none. The lady who dispatched the flies with the electric racket now has a fly swat. Not quite the same. I think she should get herself another racket! The party still rages on in the basement nightclub. I notice that the music is very loud initially, but it is turned down after 12.00. KTV floors 2 and 3 almost completed and it is going to look real nice when finished. These floors are open offering a bevy of beautiful young girls for company and maybe the odd singalong in the Cambodian style. Always a busy and vibie hotel, and probably more suited to the Asian tourist. A good spot near Wat Phnom and a short 5 minute walk to Riverside. This is a busy street, so be careful when you cross. Laundry and pharmacy across the road, food stalls, minimart with ATM machine on the corner.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and go for the 7th floor

A good choice as good service overall.
Highly recommend if your travelling with your family or friends, breakfast is fair at best but the suite rooms are large and very clean with night quality no matter only no 3 STARS hotel.
Enjoy my travel trip as good an experiences.
Thank you!

hotel with a hospital close by and a busy street in the front, a stone throw from wat phnom, it is good for the price you pay, agoda deals pretty good, nice room, good bed, room service, many times their credit card machine didnt work, so prepay or pay cash for your extra bills, laundry is good but cheaper if you walk a min across the street, internet is bad, their gym has a treadmill that creaks and a 3lbs dumbell, small pool, restaurant food is good, rooms are cosy, night club downstairs and will get louder as the night goes by, stay in higher floors. breakfast is monotonous, smoking is allowed in the restaurant, non smokers will find it diffifult.
lot of working girls late at night in the lobby, dont order their massage i have heard it is bad, i checked with the front desk, they dont have a spa and they bring people from outside and they dont come with the spa intention for sure.

Room Tip: go down to restaurant to order food and pay there, if you order from your room there is tax and serv...

Oh my god, can you believe the last reviewer. They stayed in at this hotel and then reviewed it 18 months later! Get with the program. Phnom Penh is a busy vibrant city with a certain energy that is quite undefinable. The people are just so nice and friendly and things change quickly. This is a city on the move. The Casa of course is changing also. Reception referbed a year ago, but some of the floor tiles already starting to crack. Not laid correctly. This figures, it is a 3rd world country and you cannot trust anyone to do things correctly. There appears to be another new co-owner-manager, Chinese, speaks english, friendly enough. Now in the process of doing up the 2 KTV floors, so I will be interested to see how this turns out. I plan to be back again 6 months. My previous comments stand, see my earlier reviews. The bottom line, all good, top 2 floors the best, still some noise filtering thru from the basement disco which may not suit some. More suited to Asian travelers, altho I am from New Zealand and I still like this hotel. Basically nothings a problem, easygoing, lots of happy smiles, and Cambodian culture girl friendly. Because of the current referb program I would be inclined to wait until the KTV floors are finished and then expect this place to really take off again.

Room Tip: 6th and 7th floors facing the Tonle Sap
