“Bare but provides the basics”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Has a nice interior, a cultural themed hotel that provides the basic needs of a lone traveler either on business or just personal purposes. less choice on breakfast but offers a mix of oriental, western and Cambodian dishes. In-room WiFi makes it more convenient for you to work online without leaving your room.

What is unique about this hotel is that their staff will do errands for you if you need to buy food or drinks at a nearby convenience store. Common requests like these makes us feel more Asian.

This is my 3rd time staying here. I got a spacious triple room with 2 single beds and a queen size bed which can sleep 4 person. Beds are comfortable and location is superb for shopping at central market. Secret recipe cafe nearby offers a good selection of food and friendly service. I will stay here again for my next trip.

A hotel worths spend ONE night only.

When we arrived at Diamond Hotel it looked like a good place. But unfortunately nobody opened the door for us ( 2 girls with bags and bags). So we managed to get inside and check in to our room. The F.O staff was really helpful and they smiled all the time. But then again there was no offer to carry the bags up to the rooms. It took us forever to insert the key and we had to call the reception 2 times plus one time I had to go down to change the key myself but still the door didn't work until a boy showed up with his master key. Then, we entered the room but there was no instruction on how to turn on electricity. You see, when you insert the key into the keyhole, the electricity was supposed to be on at once, but not at Diamond Hotel. I really had to go inside and try everything, eventually I had to call the F.O again then they sent the boy up again. Here's the trick: the bed table has all those switches. So once you insert the key, you have to go inside and find the switches in the dark. The room itself was clean, neat.

We went out and got back at around 1:00am, the hotel was closed and the staff were sleeping. So we had to knock to get in. Then our key DID NOT work again so we called the reception. We waited for 5 minutes before someone showed up. He did apologize though but we could not care anymore.

Breakfast almost had nothing to eat, no bacon, fruits looked disgusting and the staff (except for the girl at egg station) were almost standing doing nothing. I asked for a tea spoon and the waitress gave me a soup spoon. We won't come back.

Good clean, quiet hotel, courteous staff, 1 short block away around the corner is the 'Central Market' (Phsar Thom Thmei) which is a 'must see' for tourists. The market has everything imanigable. The hotel is located on a main 4 lane street, Monivong Blvd. which has many up scale speciality shops as well as small shops. The hotel has a very good breakfast included every morning, and a wide choice of Asian and Western Style foods. I found the staff very friendly and willing to help with any request from information, to changing large denomination bills ($ USD) to smaller bills. Banks and ATMS are very closely located. However, on a hot day it is a long walk to the river front. I recommend taking a tuk-tuk (motorcycle pulled 3 or 4 passenger cart) for about $2 USD to reach the river front. Also, to go to 'The Killing Fields' & ' The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. I also went via tuk-tuk from the hotel to the Phnom Penh Airport durning 'rush time' for only $7 USD and got there in about 30 minutes!

The hotel is reasonably comfy with good and free wifi connection. We stayed in a twin room that is really spacious. The luggage deposit is really secure. All our luggages are kept in the office manned by a staff. We can only collect the luggage when we present the collection slip. This is good considering that it's a 3 star hotel.. The breakfast is ok only - same food items everyday and never served piping hot.

I stayed there with G Adventures. It was one of the nicer places we stayed. Smack bang in the middle of town, close to all the attractions. My room was huge and everything worked -- wi fi, TV, AC a first for Cambodia. Highly recommend.

The Hotels is placed in the centre of Phnom Penh.
The room was clean and stylish furnished. Air condition was quiet and worked well. The bathroom was okay and I could get a shower in the bath tube without any problems.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Complimentary international breakfast buffet was good and with a comfortable variety of food, scrambled eggs, omelette, fresh fruit, marmalade, different sorts of bread and warm food.
