“A bottle of water is $5!!!!!!! We got ripped off.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013 via mobile

I am not reviewing the accommodation as we did not stay here. We did however come to he restaurant for a sunset cocktail. The location was good and the service too. But and this is a huge but after asking for the bill for a glass of wine ($6) and cocktails and bottle of water we could not believe the price of the water! 5$ this is a total rip off. At the main tourist sites they only charge $1. The water was not on the menu so it was as though they were hiding the extortionate price. If only we'd asked beforehand.

Just to start out on a good note, the food was excellent here and the bar is a must for the sunset over the Mekong and Tonle Sap. However the rooms are a big disappointment for the price paid, no working air con, very noisy due to street. There was no front door or front desk to stop anybody walking in off the street straight to the rooms which had shoddy locks. While tuk tuk drivers are a fact of life in Cambodia they are especially bad outside the FCC, this coupled with the stairs from the rooms being open to street meant there was no respite to be had.

Room Tip: Go there for happy hour and the sunset view

I stayed on 21 in FCC in a deluxe room.
The place has charm, you feel the history and it is a fantastic location.
The deluxe hotel rooms are big, but very used ( tired), they put me on the 1st floor which is extremely noisy just above the street.
There is much better lodging at that price available. Go for a drink and maybe dinner there, sleep in a better price quality ratio place !

Had read that this place was great and we ended up walking miles trying to find it after getting a tuk tuk to the wrong part of the riverside, wow we were so disappointed, busy and full of tourists eating western food at high prices, poor service at the bar, bad beer not cold enough, expensive cocktail which was poor, couldn't find a decent seat to enjoy the view which is the one thing this place could have going for it, got out of there as soon as possible and diced back into some proper Cambodian hospitality

FCC is the place to be when you visit Phnom Penh. The food quality is excellent, but it has to be since the price is quite high. The view is something you pay for, sunset view over Thonle Basac river is really good. Make sure you come in threes or fours, and way before 5PM if you want to get a table facing the river. And order some food if you want to have a table, or else you'll be requested to sit on the side-bar facing the river, which is actually a good seat to enjoy the sunset.

Overall, a nice place to while away some time until it's time for Happy Pizza

Docked in Phnom Penh on a River Cruise and decided to go out for dinner. Heard about the FCC so decided to take a Tuk Tuk there and back. The food was ok - nothing fancy and it was a bit overpriced for what you got. It is the kind of place you would go if you don't want any surprises or any authentic Cambodia fare. I probably woudl not go back for a second helping if I Am ever back in Pnomh Penn.

The location of this hotel is great and the room was amazing, but we got ripped off with the mini bar, make sure you work out what is in it before and after. Also the security on the street balcony rooms could do with a revamp, it didnt feel that safe. Check what room you have if you pre-paid, we booked and paid for a 2 bedroom apartment and got a lovely big room, but it was not what we paid for, the woman in charge was very unhelpful about this. Also there are some very dodgy characters hanging around at the street entrance, just be on your guard. Otherwise its a gorgeous hotel and got loads to offer.

Room Tip: just make sure if you get a street side room its what you paid for and be security conscious. Then s...
