Having stayed in sister hotel the Plantation was expecting the Pavilion to be similar and was not disappointed. Pool area not quite as pleasant to sit by but beautiful to look at, it is heavily surrounded by trees which makes it really pretty but bad if you attract mosquitoes. Not good if you want to sunbathe (although expect most people would be out sight seeing during the day!) Food was good for breakfast & lunch snack we had. Stayed with friends and we shared a big family room which was very spacious for 3 people. Good location, walking distance to river and bars / restaurants.

Dear Guest, The garden is treated against mosquitoes through regular fogging and the trees are there for the freshness as Cambodia is really hot! So we trim from time to time but try to preserve the greenery where we can. Cheers, Alexis

We were picked up from the bus station in the hotel's jaguar after a hot coach journey from Siem Reap. The driver was on hand with ice cold flannels which were much needed! A short drive through Phnom Penh and we arrived at the door on street 19.On going in through the door it's like stepping back in time. A lovely pool surrounded by lovely greenery and on walking into reception it's like an old colonial house from the 50's. We had booked a room with a private plunge pool for 5 days and it was worth every penny. After a long hot day visiting places it was fantastic coming back getting a drink from the fridge and jumping in the pool to cool down and relax. Very romantic at night with the subtle lighting illuminating the pool. The room was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was lovely, served by the pool with fresh fruit, bread basket and a good selection from the menu. All the staff were friendly and booking in and out was quick and hassle free , we would definitely stay here again.

Having once stayed at the Blue Lime (Sister Property)in the pool room,we were very keen to experience the pool room at The Pavilion which is supposed to be a bit more up market. We were definitely impressed when we arrived and found the building a delight. Check in was also brilliant but the longer we stayed we more realized that the Blue Lime was a better option. The staff, especially at the bar seemed somewhat indifferent. You actually had to go and ask for a drink.
The room itself was far to busy and the bathroom was cramped. With some thought it could have been set out so much better. Shampoo and soap containers ran short on our first day and were never refilled. The main pool is very good but the trees that surround it really need cutting back.
Value for money we could have done much better. There is great potential here but management need to have an objective look at the operation and tidy up the loose ends.

Room Tip: If taking a pool room go for the front ones.

Dear Guest, I am very sorry we could not meet your expectations with the private pool room. We have held a meeting with the House Keeping team and we are tightening the procedures. I hope you will be back and check the improvements in the way we upkeep our rooms. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Cheers, Alexis

We stayed here for two nights at the start of our 10 day stay in Cambodia and loved it so much that we booked it again for our last night stay in PP before we flew out the next day.

We originally stayed in one of the executive suites, room 23, which was absolutely stunning! It was spacious and well laid out with gorgeous features and a nice large outdoor area! This along with the hotels beautiful looking pool and dining / bar area, excellent location and extremely friendly and helpful staff made this a truly beautiful stay.

However, we then re-booked the suite for our last night but unfortunately upon arrival there had been an issue with our booking / room and the suite was not available (we are assuming that it had been given to another guest) and we were downgraded to a superior room.

This room was not as nice as the suite and had some small issues, i.e. dodgy door handle on the inside which made locking the door quite difficult, remote control and computer screen not working but all in all as we were only there for one night so we were happy enough.

I would have easily rated this a 5 if it were not for these booking issues as this is a beautiful boutique hotel which I can highly recommend.

Room Tip: The executive suites are certainly worth the extra money!

Dear Guest, I am very sorry we indeed could not give you the same suite as it had been booked by an other guest. The front desk should have told you at the time you requested it, I am sorry they failed to do so. As for the computer and door handle, those have been fixed. Hope next stay will go better! Cheers, Alexis

Recently had my third stay at the Pavilion hotel and I really love it for it's individual character, friendly well trained staff, great location and oasis like poolside/restaurant. When you step through that door from St. 19, you feel like your stepping into paradise. On this trip we had the pool view deluxe room which had a lovely large balcony overlooking the garden and pool. The hotel is easy walking distance to the Royal Palace, river front, BKK1 and St. 240 is just around the corner with two very good wine shops! Unfortunately we only discovered St. 240 and a half on the last evening and we had already made dinner arrangements for The Common Tiger (excellent!), but I really liked the look of several of the smaller hip looking restaurants and bars in this little lane way off St. 240.

Room Tip: Loved the pool view deluxe room, great balcony and decor charm. Have also stayed the the regular del...

We stayed here in January. The pavilion is a nice little paradise in Phnom Penh - nice pool and dining area. We absolutely loved the breakfast here - you could order off the set menu but the food is more than enough as they bring you fruits, a bread basket and tea/coffee/juice.

Our room was the standard room and didn't think it was that great - the bathroom and floor didn't seem up to par with the rest of the hotel. Perhaps in the bigger rooms its a different story. It felt like the floor was still dirty. All in all a good stay.

Dear Guest, Many thanks for your review. Very sorry you did not like our original floor tiles. Many of those date back from the thirties and we have decided to keep them as I believe that they are part of the history of the building. We have 12 housekeepers who are polishing our 27 rooms daily and the chemicals we use are imported from Japan, we do our best to keep the entire property sparkling clean... Hope every one will enjoy those old tiles as much as I do, even if they indeed sometimes look tired. Cheers, Alexis

We stayed here as the starter to our Honeymoon and got picked up from the airport in their vintage car. A lovely touch. Especially when we were welcomed with a cold bottle of water!

We had a lovely room, overlooking the pool and it was really peaceful. Breakfasts are brilliant and the pool side bar is a great settling for an evening drink. Although we didn't eat dinner at the hotel they recommended a good couple of local restaurants.

The hotel is lovely. A real traditional feel to it and the staff were only too willing to help. We even did the evening sunset boat cruise that was great fun!

I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the capital. Very close to the sights but tucked away and very quiet. A must for those looking for a small, boutique place to stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc… ... more   less
