“Home Away from Home”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We have stayed here on previous visits to Phnom Penh. The position of this hotel is great as it is very close to many eating places of good quality and if not a local tuk tuk driver outside the hotel will readily take you to other places of great eating. A great location
The staff here are very friendly. Always have been and readily greet you whether in the morning for breakfast or after you have been out for the day.
Hy Sokhen is a very friendly staff member who will make sure your stay is a wonderful one. He will most likely greet you on arrival at reception.
Having stayed here on many occasions we can make a very accurate assessment of this hotel. No problems with the breakfast and the menu that is offered for other meals. Great to still have the 5 free items of laundry completed daily for you.
The only thing which I believe management is addressing in the near future, is that bedrooms need to be upgraded with attention to the bathrooms.
Other than this this hotel still has a great friendly and homely feel. Cannot wait till next year and will also stay at their sister hotel Anise Villas.

Room Tip: Stairs link each of the floors at this hotel. One way of keeping fit.!!!!

This is the only place I would stay in Phnom Penh- centrally located, terrific staff, laundry and weifi included and many breakfast choices- It is a real bargain-and if you really want to swim you can tuktuk to the Anise Villa, 19 mites away and plunge in!

Room Tip: no elevator-if you are averse to climbing, as for 1st floor room

The hotel is ok and clean, the room we got was big with an oversized entrance. The hotel gives you free laundry, 5 pieces per person which is perfect especially for us that have been traveling for some time and started to need clean clothes. The bathroom here is a little old, but it's very clean so I didn't really mind it. The location is a little bit far from the lake where a lot of the restaurant are located, but with tuk tuk that is seriously all over the city you can get anywhere for a small amount of money.

the Anise Hotel was recommended by friends who often stay there. After a disastrous accommodation experience in another part of Phnom Penh we found the Anise Hotel to be a oasis against the hustle/bustle of Phnom Penh. The room rates are competitive considering that a comprehensive breakfast & the laundering of 5 items per person are inclusive. We also found that both lunch & dinner prices to be competitive with other eating establishments within close proximity. the atmosphere & architecture is reminiscent of the "Raffles Hotel" in Singapore & quite frankly it is hard to venture out if its warm embrace. The Anise Hotel is a great place to recharge your batteries & step back from the pressures of travel

Room Tip: there all manner of room types to choose from with regards to size, we preferred the upper rooms

My wife and I love this hotel. We always choose it when we travel to Phnom Penh and have stayed there many times over the past four years. It is well located for business and tourism and the rooms are simple but comfortable. The atmospheric verandah restaurant on the ground floor is a great place to sit and have a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner, or to meet friends or associates over a drink. The staff are always very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great value for money.

Our family stayed at the Anise for 6 nights in two rooms. Great location, staff is so helpful, breakfast and laundry included in the room rates and the food was very good. We were part of a larger group and we all enjoyed our stay. There is not a pool but you can use one at the sister property, Anise Villa.
Lots of good restaurants nearby, tuk-tuks available to get around PP, near the Lucky supermarket that stocks Western stuff if you left something behind. The veranda is lovely!
Happy hour also a great bargain. We hope to return another time. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Anise Hotel in March 2014. We initially stayed for 3 nights as we were traveling to different places in Cambodia. We love it so much that we went back for a further 4 days just before the end of our one month stay in Cambodia. The staff were so friendly and organized. We loved the breakfasts, appreciated the laundry service. We had the room with a kitchen in the Annex and loved being there. There are no lifts but we did not find this a problem. Kept us fit. This was my 5th trip to Cambodia and my husbands second and we will probably return. The Anise has become our preferred hotel in Phnom Penh for its cleanliness, convenience, efficiency, the restaurant, laundry service, reasonable price and above all the friendly atmosphere
