This museum is effectively a collection of the expensive (and tasteless) gifts given to the president over the years, together with some selective biography of the president and some furnished rooms which I imagine were used before the new palace was built.
At one level, it's an ego trip for the president, at another it's making available to the people items which have been given to the country. For reasons I can't understand, we were required to wear plastic overshoes for the visit, though we didn't seem to be standing on anything of great value.
It is just across the road from our hotel and it passed a couple of hours on an unseasonably cold and wet morning.
