It's my first visit in Bishkek and I found this marvellous place where wine is really good for an awesome price. Food is perfect and it's the only place where I found a really marvellous coffee tout finish my lunch. They have a funny machine that makes your expresso perfectly.

Situated right in the center of town, the frontage and entry to this quaint and quirky cafe (and bar) is so low-profile that one may completely pass by without appreciating its existence. Inside, are two rooms and an outside patio, again very minimalist in terms of the furnishing and décor, but cozy and comfortable, nevertheless. The menu is very European and offers a selection of snacks, light meals and drinks (the coffee is good). Frantzuza also offers a wide selection of wines, so it doubles as a wine bar. However, and surprisingly, the most interesting item on offer is a wide range (and an intriguing combination) of shishas (hookah or hubble bubble). One is not only able to choose the tobacco (various flavors) to go with the shisha, but also the liquid through which the smoke percolates, for example, various fruit juices are on offer- obviously, one for the aficionados here. The rest room is equally quirky with all kinds of graphic toilet signs from around the world. Certainly, an interesting place in more ways than one (dining)!

Fantastic little French place. Had excellent duck with onions and Cree brûlée for desert. Will return next time, it's very close to Hyatt and Holiday hotels.

Nice small cafe in the centre of Bishkek. Has indoor and outdoor seatings. We had an outdoor one as it was summer. Small yard of 5-8 tables, 4-6 persons each. Nice furniture, cafe has romantic atmosphere in the late evening, especially with candles. Food is very good, as well as home wines. I do recommend to try home wine. Nice place for families visit, meeting friends, dates as well. Service is very good, fast. Average bill per person would be around 1000-1500 soms (20-25 $), which is higher than average in Bishkek.
No parking though.
I also recommend everyone who visit this place to visit their WC. It's really funny, you'd spent there half an hour to read all the funny signs )).

A great little culinary oasis in central Bishkek!
I had a smashing t-bone steak with a selection of roasted vegetables and an ice cold local beer. I'm sure you could eat for less elsewhere in Bishkek but if you're after something special then come here! Cheap by western standards and excellent quality.
I will more than likely return this evening for more and delve into their selection of wines.
Thank you 'U Frantzuza'!
