“Good food - but realtively pricey”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

I liked the business concept: helping young people to find away to help themselves - thus would recommend unreservedly!!
You just HAVE TO GO THERE!! The food is really outstanding. But they really could do a bit to improve (enlargen) their menu. And to train their staff in English - as expats + travellers are clearly their main target group!!

“Avoid the crispy banana dessert”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

The new premises are spacious n easy to find. I had the eggplant salad which had great smoky flavours. But the red curry seafood was average and avoid the banana dessert which is soggy not crispy. The restaurant supports a good cause but in the taste factor alone go to Amphone.

A great cause with flavourful delicious food! We shared the grilled eggplant dip for starters - spicy and tasty. We had the ancient fish and a pork dish for main - wow! I like spicy food and this certainly did not disappoint. The trainees are sometimes a bit shy but there's always someone on hand to help. Highly recommend as it was easily the best food I had in Vientiane! Loved it!

“An absolute must!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Delicious freshly prepared local food is the highlight of the menu. We ordered a selection of dishes and shared them amongst our table. I can highly recommend the spring rolls, lemon grass chicken and the red curry. The Hibiscus and lime daiquiri is divine and extremely refreshing after a day looking around town.

As bonus you will also be supporting young locals to make their way in the hospitality industry. There is a small gift shop on site selling local hand crafts and cookbooks with Lao recipes available in both English and French. After tasting the food I hope to be able to replicate my experience using the cookbook at home.

“Great food whilst supporting the youth of Laos”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Ok, I have to admit I am committed to this great organisation that trains young people in Cambodia and Laos in the hospitaility industry.
Give a man a fish......teach a man to fish.
Well friends continues to produce transformed young adults with viable futures thanks to support of people like you and I who visit their restaurants. That the food is great is an added bonus.

This restaurant has recently moved.
The easiest way to find it is to walk past the Amazon Cafe on the riverfront road (heading away from the night market. (the Mekong is on your left)
Then its the first lane on your right hand side about 6 houses down on the right.

Great property.

Each restaurant has its own style.
Here we had chicken curry and also the buffalo vegetable stew.
The highlights however are the deserts. Seriously, the Mango Cake with coconut icecream almost caused a fight with my wife.
The other sorbet dish we had was also brilliant.
Some of the Mocktails were also brilliant.

If in Cambodia, check out the brilliant restaurant in Siem Reap and also "Friends" and "Romdeng" in Phnom Penh.
