“Very nice place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

Booked through Agoda for 3 nights, overall great stay. Room was spacious with a lovely balcony (some sort of construction work was happening next door but the noise was not a problem). Breakfast was basic (choice of baguettes, croissants and toast with eggs and fruit) but enough to get your day started. Walking distance to all the main sights (national stadium, museum, COPE centre roughly 1/2 hour walk PLEASE VISIT!) The hotel let us stay in the room until 6pm for 12USD so we had a base until we got our night bus to Pakse.
There are a lot of cheaper places around, but if you want to pay a little bit more for air con, comfy bed and generally nicer facilities, this is for you!

Room and bathroom was small but clean, The shower was quite large but hot water undependable. But when it's 110+ degrees out, that doesn't really matter.

Overall pros:
- Convenient location to Chinatown, downtown, waterfront, restaurants, etc.
- Included breakfast (However, don't expect much. It only consisted of eggs, bread, fruit.)
- Clean

Cons:
- Very small
- Thin doors

Don't expect much but it gets the job done when you need a clean place to sleep and shower.

We stayed here for one night this month. We paid for the suite which was on the top floor- the room was decorated well with a good size bath. The air conditioning did not work well and it was 40 degrees outside and so we ended up using the bath for a cold bath to cool down. The location of the weak air-con unit meant that we actually ended up moving the bed into the middle of the room so we could actually feel what little cool air there was. When we moved the bed there was an incredible amount of dust behind the bed so they obviously don't do any spring cleaning! The bed was also terribly uncomfortable, it had hard ridges in it which meant that we actually had to sleep sideways on it rather than length ways. If we would have had to stay more than one night we would have complained and moved rooms. Also when we moved one of the stools in the room there was a used pair of knee high tights that were not ours! So obviously cleaning is not high on their list of priorities. In summary it was an ok hotel in an ok location with an ok price but could be better!

Stayed here with mates, loved it! Good service, large rooms and ok breakfast. Hot water didnt work the first night, but was quickly fixed the following morning. would recommend for a group or young people, can get a little noisy from late night bars and restaurants near by! the town its self i would only stay a night.

We arrived early in the morning, after being on a bus all night. We went to ask if we could leave our bags and check in later and was told if we liked we could have our room there and then.......brilliant, shower then out for a full day sight seeing. Rooms were very clean and pleasant , staff really helpful, breakfast good. One let down was the hot water it came in fits and starts, but who needs hot water in these temps.

Stayed here for 1 night on a gadventures trip. Room was clean, and the A/C worked well.Breakfast was good with eggs, fruit and pastries.

Night market and shopping center within walking distance. If you are looking for WIFI, they have it free, but it's not great, i had to sit in the lobby to access it.

We enjoyed our stay at the Avalon Hotel in Vientiane, We were able to easily walk into the centre of town to all the good restaurants and cafes. I thought that the hotel made a nice effort with the decor and furnishings. Good showers and finally one with a separate shower cubicle so the rest of the bathroom does not get soaking wet. The only complaint is that there are not enough tables outside for breakfast and the inside tables are very uncomfortable to sit in, the tables and chairs are very low and not really for eating at. Good breakfast though of baguettes, crossaints, eggs and coffee/tea. Service from the reception staff was a bit patchy, some a lot more helpful than others. Overall very good value.
