“This is a GREAT place to stay - you will not be disappointed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2010

I have stayed at the Vayakorn Inn at least four times over the past year and a half. If I am in Vientiane, I stay at the Vayakorn. I first stayed there when it first opened and you could tell from the attention to detail and the quality service oriented management that this was going to be a great place to stay and it has never let me down.

The hotel is a very modern facility but it also blends in Lao culture in the design and art work so that it is a wonderful lodging environment. The rooms are modern, the beds very comfortable, the rooms impeccably clean and bath rooms spacious and modern with glass shower enclosures.

The hotel is very centrally located near the Mekong and many restaurnats and shops. This is the best place to stay in Vientiane and I highly recommend it.

Extremely clean room with small balcony. I had twin beds in my room plus satelite TV, air con, frig etc. The bathroom was excellent had a proper glass door shower cubicle. You could get a good breakfast downstairs for $3.

We cannot fault this hotel in any way. Room was large, modern, very clean. The ensuite bathroom even had pot pouri. It is an outstanding boutique hotel for a great price of $30 per night. Very good value breakfast for an extra $3 per person. Friendly and professional staff. The location is also very central but in a quiet lane so a great night’s sleep. We stayed 3 nights but were sorry to leave. We also loved the decor of this hotel.

The hotel is situated in a French colonial house, with spacious rooms and a good bar. The staff are friendly, if not completely sure of the English language, and during our stay the french-speaking owner arrived and asked about our stay. We used the hotel to book a coach to Vang Vieng (at no extra fee), and were told to be in the lobby at 9:30 am for a 10 am departure. 10:30 am and after the staff reassuring us that everything was ok and we hadn't missed the bus, the songtaow arrived as a 'shuttle.' The shuttle shuttled us around Vientiane for 45 minutes then dropped us 50m from the front of the hotel infront of our bus. Had we stayed in other hotels before this, it wouldn't have been a concern - you get used to Lao business networks. The comunication between staff and clients is not fantastic, and had the owner not arrived we would have been much less happy with the staff. Overall, a safe bet for a quality room, internet connection and semi-western style hotel. 4/5.

Myself and my wife were doing a visa run from Thailand and decided to splurge a little (our Thai accomodation costs $150 (US) a month) with a $30 a night room. The reception area feels luxurious and the staff are very friendly, espcially the ones who want to practice their English with you. The room exceeded our expectation with massive beds and an airy feel to it.

When we started to explore Vientiane, we soon discovered that the Vayakorn is in the perfect location with most major sights within walking distance and a plethora of restaurants and bars on your doorstep.

How lucky can one get.............? We had no accommodation booked in Vientiane and asked at 3 Nagas in Luang Prabang what they would recommend as a good value for money budget kind of place to stay in Vientiane. Vayakorn Inn was recommended and at the rate they charge, it is a real little gem. Tucked away in a little side street just off the main drag, it is quiet, though central enough to walk to lovely restaurants and bars in the area. The room is not very big but we had two double beds and good water pressure in our bathroom - we have heard from others that this can be a problem in the capitol at times. Do not hesitate to book this little place, we feel so lucky that it has been recommended to us as we would not have found it otherwise!

We stayed for 2 nights at the relatively new Vayakorn Inn and were very pleased with our choice.

The room was not massive although adequate for our needs and very clean.

Vientiane is quite compact and you can get around it by foot quite easily. The hotel was very central but on a side street so traffic noise was minimal. We were woken during the night a couple of times due to cockerels and/or dogs but that's part of the Vientiane experience rather than anything the hotel could do!!

As there wasn't a safety deposit box in the room we gave our valuables to reception to be put in the safe, especially as the patio doors in the room didn't lock (we were on the 2nd floor so probably less of an issue).

If we visit Vientiane again we would definitely stay in this hotel.
