“Good location.”
Reviewed 2 January 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights and the location is perfect - really convenient for everything in Vientiane.
I was travelling alone and felt safe walking to and from the guest house in the evening, and secure when in the room. It was very quiet considering the central location. I liked the arrangement for breakfast. When I was ready, I sat out on the balcony and the girls brought breakfast. It was simple juice/croissant/banana with tea or coffee, but exactly what I would choose so I enjoyed it.
The accommodation was clean but the towels didn't seem to be - they smelled very unpleasant. They were changed daily, but all smelled the same. I used a towel I had brought with me.
This is not the place to stay if you are hoping to interact with other travellers. There is no "common area" where guests mingle, and I had minimal interaction with staff and no-one introduced themselves as the owner or manager.
This is a personal preference, but after my stay at Sala Inpeng I have decided that I wouldn't book into a wooden built guest house again - I found it a bit dark and gloomy.

A friend and I only stayed here for one night on our way to northern Laos. The guesthouse is on a cute little street, close to lots of restaurants, shops and the Mekong. The ladies at the front desk were super nice and helpful - especially when tracking down our very late bus out of town. The room was clean, although a little dark. My favorite part was the small deck attached to each bungalow. Was nice to sit out there in the evening then enjoy breakfast the next morning. Would stay here again.

Was struggling to find my usual midrange comfortable modern accommodation in Vientiane and settled on sala inpeng for 1 night before flying out but did not have high expectations. Firstly from the pictures i was surprised how to close to the action this place was. About 1km walk will get you anywhere you want to be. Once you enter the compound though you forget you are anywhere near a noisy city with quaint little cabins with relaxing patio's looking out to the gardens. From the pictures i thought the cabins would be very basic but the bed was alot softer and comfortable than most beds in se asia and wifi, mini bar and old style tv but with premium cable chanels. The staff were friendly and helpful and if i handnt of already booked my flight i would of extended my stay a couple of days.

This guesthouse is situated in midst of the prime area yet it is not too noisy or crowded. It gives you access to many of the good restaurants, night market, main attractions and Mekong river.

The rooms are pretty neat with tinge of
Resort feel. The catch is that the rooms are small and there are plenty of
Mosquitoes. Some areas for improvement are that the rooms are little dusty (suspect it is the sheets cover). The wifi signal is weak and almost negligible. Nonetheless, service was good although the level of English proficiency may be improved.

Overall the price you pay is relatively value for money with what you will experience. I would recommend this place during your short visit to Vientiane.

Stay at the Sala Inpeng for 4 days in November. (too many days for Vientiane, max 3). What can I say that hasnt already been said. Great central location, Fantastic wooden huts with Air con and TVs. But above all the most amazing, friendly, warm and welcoming staff ever. The girls that appear to run the resort are so lovely. They served us breakfast, cleaned the rooms, stayed up late to open the gate, all with a huge smile. Would absolutly reccommend the Sala Inpeng. Its all you could want and more.

I booked the Sala Inpeng after reading tripadvisor reviews. The location and setting totally exceeded my expectations.... So close to the Mekong promenade and night market, and 5minutes from the restaurants, cafes and bars. The hotel setting itself also surprised me... In among the cityscape, it is itself a little green oasis that would be quite fitting in a countryside resort... Little traditional bungalows among a green and shaded garden.

Each bungalow has a little balcony area to sit, the room was spotless and was the first guesthouse I've been to in SE Asia that actually smelt clean and fresh. Aircon worked fine, wifi signal was good, bed was comfy, nice to have a mosquito net, bathroom was clean and hot shower worked well.

We booked a tuk tuk transfer to the airport through the hotel for an early flight, and they even knocked on our door 15minutes before (without requesting a 5.30am wake up), which I thought was thoughtful and good service.

A nice place to stay in Vientiane

I stayed here for a total of 4 nights and I must say I was very satisfied. First, the bookings made received prompt replies. Second, the rooms were clean though thy are a bit tiny (I stayed in the economy and standard ones). Location was good as it was by the riverside and was in the heart of the tourism scene. It was also a stone's throw from the Wats. Service from the staff was excellent. The only bad things were the rooms being a bit small and the breakfast menu being the same for all the 4 days I was there. Would be great if there had been more variety in the breakfast menu.
