“Loud, hot, and uncomfortable”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

It is right next to a bar which plays very loud music until midnight. You can hear the music clearly as well as the bass pounding in your room. The ac unit is very loud but does not give out any cool air. The beds are a single old mattress on a bed and the sheets don't fit the bed which leaves you waking up sweaty directly on the old mattress. The decor in the lobby is nice but the actual room is not- stained walls and ceiling, with a bathroom you might have to bend over to get in. Will not stay again.

This is an unusual hotel, it's a art gallery and hotel. The staff were friendly and very laid back.

My room was at the front of the building overlooking the Mekong river and night market. The bed was very, very comfortable!
The safety deposit box was not bolted down so it could be easily removed, and the door locks were not the usual hotel standard. Having said that NOTHING disappeared from my room. For peace of mind they need to secure the safety deposit box and install standard locks on the doors. The front desk will look after everything you do not want to leave in the room. There are restaurants and bars near by so the location is good and you do not need a taxi to get around. The breakfast isn't great and caters mostly for Asians, if you're a westerner you will more than likely have toast & jam. The wi-fi is good and worked well enough to SKYPE.

The night market opposite the hotel is big and worth a look.
This is an interesting hotel and a bit quirky, it's enjoyable! At $50/$55 this hotel is ok by Vientiane prices and I will probably stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room.

Stayed here over 4 years ago and this was my first time back.

The hotel is what can be described as, quaint. Rooms are very dated, but for me this adds to the charm. French style doors reminds of the colonial past of this lovely country. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom facilities all in good working order too. Would definately recommend this place.

A nice hotel in a decent spot overlooking the Mekong. Can be noisy at night due to the bar next door and the main road. Breakfast is simple but nice. Rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and a safety deposit box.

This place isn't bad. It's right by the river and has some positives but it needs some work. The breakfast isn't great and the rooms do need some work. The A/Cs in some of the rooms don't work great and the rooms are a little run down. The doors to the rooms had massive gaps in them leaving the A/C to go out the door. The bathrooms need work and the shower heads could use replacing. On a budget it's not a bad stay though and they have good tv channels in English.

I have had the misfortune to stay in a few bad hotels over the years and the Inter City in Vientiane, Laos ranks right there with one of the worst. I should go and check the dictionary definition of 'boutique' perhaps but the Inter City and 'boutique' don't go together in my opinion. The moment the taxi pulled up at the font of the hotel, my heart sunk "I've made a poor choice!".

I had a deluxe room, I would hate to see the basic rooms. The bed was shocker with the feeling of springs coming through the lumpy old mattress. The air con rattled noisily through the night. Although the was hot water in the shower, there was none over the hand basin. The TV showed 65 channels of 'snow' as if there was no antenna connected. The curtains were faded, the floors rough wood. Breakfast was poor. The hotel looked like some freakish art collection. No maintenance had been done, in fact the place has moved beyond maintenance. Destruction remains an option. Reception staff were generally pleasant and helpful. Other staff were indolent and couldn't care less. Avoid this place. There are many better options available in Vientiane.

The interiors were good. Not that impressive, but you know it had been thought out. You can appreciate the effort also in the corridors going to your room.

Good location. Lots of restaurants in the area. And just across a night bazaar that mushrooms in the evenings. (NOTE: you can buy lots of goodies at very, very, VERY cheap prices)

A very big CON for me: the a/c is a bit too warm despite cranking it up. I don't know, maybe it is the sweaty summer weather. But the entire hotel is very warm for me.
