This hotel is very clean, the rooms are well decorated and clean, as is the whole of the property.
Unfortunately the staff had a problem with smiling, there was no feeling of warmth or welcome, this is a shame because it has the potential to be great.
Because of this we would not stay there again.
When we booked it would have been helpful to be advised that there is a lot of building works at the adjacent temple, the monks where not adverse to hammering at 5.30am!
Also the a major festival was taking place during our visit which meant a relentless barage of non descript boom boom music from morning till night.

Room Tip: There are better located and value hotels in the city

Would recommend spending a little extra and booking one of their two suites - the extra space, high ceilings and balconies really make for a special stay. Our daughter had a savvy room which was much smaller but more than happy with the amenties. Apparently, this is usually a peacful locaton but our stay coincided with a major festival and the noise in the evening was deafening. So rather than moan we joined the thousands of locals at the fun fair - even won strange fluffy prizes for darting balloons! Would also recommend booking the hotel airport transfers if your stay coincides with festival time as the roads near the hotel were closed and our airport taxi was turned back by local police! This is a lovely chic boutique property that would suit couples or solo travellers - doesn't have a pool & would have little to keep children entertained.

Room Tip: Choice a suite if possible.

I've traveled to Vientiane multiple times for work and always stayed at the Lao Plaza, which is functional and clean. On my last visit I was talked into staying at the Ansara and I'll never go back to the Lao Plaza again. The room was small but lovely, with a balcony overlooking the pretty garden and the charming rooftops of Vientiane. I thought it might be noisy with barking dogs, but the rooms are sound-proofed well and I had no problems with noises. The breakfast was lovely and a nice treat. The location is on a little lane in downtown Vientiane, which meant the Mekong River boardwalk and multitudes of restaurants were within easy reach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor to get the nicest view.

This hotel is perfect for those on a business trip or even more so for couple visiting the capital. It has everything that the business traveller needs yet provides it in an intimate manner that couple would enjoy.

The rooms are a delight. Yes they may not be as large as North American rooms but definitely in line or even bigger than the ones you get in Europe for the same style category. The rooms are furnished with all modern offerings yet take Laotian culture, style & tradition into it's product mix.

Bathrooms are big, spacious with a rain shower (a bit slow in the force) and the amenities are well defined in comparison to the other hotels in the region.

The restaurant, which serves for all three servings, has a great menu but also perfect to sit back in their courtyard and enjoy a glass of wine or two in the peace and tranquility of the surroundings.

The only drawback, which really isn't their fault, is the internet speed which is quite sporadic but then again common in Laos. Also they don't have a pool but here again most of the hotels in Laos don't.

For a person who travels to Laos atleast three times a year, this has been my most enjoyable stay as a business traveller and with regards to proximity to walk out a few hundred yards and be in the midst of their nightlife.
