This hotel offers all that you would expect of a hotel in this class. The rooms are nicely appointed with all amenities such as safe, minibar and a working wireless internet connection (free with password). The hotel's restaurant is good, a bit pricey though compared to the many restaurants just steps away in the streets surrounding the hotel. But it is a good choice if you are tired and don't want to walk around to find a better place.

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly, sometimes a bit inexperienced and with difficulties in understanding English, but their friendliness makes up for it!

Title of this review says it all. This hotel was amazing. For the sophisticated traveler who values style as well as comfort this ticks all the boxes. Best mattress in SE Asia I have ever slept on. Design elements rival best hotels in Bangkok, service with a smile, fabulous location. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this hotel. Even the guest computers in the lobby where I am writing this review were amazing. I don't usually post pictures with my reviews, but any shot I would take would be website worthy as there isn't a problem with this hotel ANYWHERE. 6 Stars!!!

As a first time visitor to Vientiane, Laos, I had some angst on choosing a hotel. In researching on the internet, I came across Salana Boutique Hotel. It turned out to be a find and such a pleasant surprise.

At the time of this writing, the hotel has been open for less than six months. The hotel is spotless and well run. Staff are super friendly and eager to make your visit a pleasant one. Bathroom cleanliness is a particularly critical issue for me. The Salana bathrooms are clean, with modern fixtures and fittings and contemporary in look. Shower stalls have an overhead shower head plus hand held variety. Toilets are accompanied by douche fixture.

The rooms may be just a tad small, something you will feel only if you are travelling with a lot of luggage. Otherwise, the room size are satisfactory. My room was equipped with a desk/chair, flat screen LCD TV, refrigerator and a pull up armchair. Heavy drapes shield light sleepers from sunlight.

The decor of the hotel reflects the region, using artwork and materials indigenous to SE Asia. The style is quite "East meets West".

The hotel has a restaurant attached from where a breakfast buffet is served. Breakfast is a respectable offering of Western and Asian fare. You can order eggs using a pre-printed request slip to specify your selection. This is done I imagine to overcome language challenges between guest and staff. A limited menu is also available for a la cart selections for lunch and dinner. The restaurant staff is very hospitable, though language issues can be a small obstacle - nothing major.

The restaurant has two very slick MAC PCs available for guest use with respectable connectivity speed. WiFi is available from the rooms, but can at times be a bit sluggish depending on traffic and distance from the router. I did however accomplish most PC needs from my room without incident.

The hotel is centrally located in town, though Vientiane is quite small, and 'walkable' from a tourist perspective. So not too many hotels are 'too far' from what I could see.

I would happily return to Salana if my travels ever brought me back to Vientiane.

In a city like Vientiane, which is not known for the quality of its hotels, this is a real find. If you like small (boutique) hotels, this possibly could be the best in the city (we have stopped in a few others and they do not match up). The place is brand new, and centrally located in a city where you can walk everywhere. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed, and spotless. Staff is a little inexperienced, but all very nice and helpful, most with an acceptably good level of English. The breakfast was well done, with a buffet bar and eggs to order. Wi-fi worked well and Apple computers were available for use in the lobby area. Can recommend without any reservations.

We travelled with a large group and the tour company had tried other hotels in Vientiane with extremely poor participant feedback - Novotel and Sengawatan. I was amazed at how excellent this new boutique hotel was. Not a large hotel but beautifully furnished with excellent bedrooms. Staff were the most charming I have ever encountered.

Breakfasts were excellent. Location terrific just a short walk to the excellent restaurants of Makphet and Douang Deuane and also a short walk to the river and the markets.

free internet access was a bonus at standalone applemac PCs beside the restaurant.

Look no further - stay here for great value!

We loved Salana Boutique Hotel and it was one of our favourites in our travels around SE Asia. It's pretty new, and has excellent finishes and attention to detail. The rooms are a good size and well kitted out, with comfy beds and crsipy white linen.

Great breakfast with a good choice with everything from Asian style noodles to a variety of eggs and pastries.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Good location within walking distance to the riverside and lots of shops and restaurants.

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting Vientianne.
