My wife and I were on a visa run from Thailand and stayed four nights In Vientiane. The AV
Hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from tourist hotels, restaurants, coffee shops and shopping, Most rooms are located off the busy street, but our room was adjacent to a building under construction; noise started at 8 am and lasted until dark. Fortunately, we were out all day. Sleep was OK, small beds, but good mattress; average bathroom, but clean. Breakfast was Asian-style; white toast, bad coffee and orange drink. Staff were courteous, English was poor and no one went out-of-their-way to offer service. Internet was weak unless you were in the lobby. Nearby cafes, coffee shops, shopping, etc. were excellent, particularly the French croissants and bistro food.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the side where a building is under construction, probably for several more months th...

We stayed in the AV Hotel for 2 nights in November 2011. The hotel offered a free pick up from the airport. The rooms were large, clean with wi-fi and TV. The bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast was basic. We found the staff to be rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. There was a stong smell of cleaning products in the lobby and rooms which we found to be over powering! The location is within walking distance of Sisaket and the Mekong river.
There are buidling works next door to the hotel and it can get loud. I think there are better hotels in Vientiane.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and found the hotel to be okay, but not great.

The emailing back and forth to make a reservation was easy and they even picked us up from the airport for free, but after that, everything became extremely average.

Our room had water damage and flooded over a span of several hours. The room had a strong chemical smell - I believe they spray bug repellent heavily during cleaning.

Breakfast was nothing to write home about either. We found ourselves eating elsewhere.

While conveniently located and staffed with friendly faces, you can definitely find better.

We used this hotel as an overnight stay between Luang Prabang and Udon Thani (Thailand). Booked via booking.com for 38$/night including breakfast. Centrally located, easy walking distance to central bus station(400m), 500m from Mekong river, 200m from wat Si Saket and Presidential palace. Free airport transportation : the driver was waiting for us at Vientiane airport. Free internet & Wifi. 3 floors (ground, first and second) without elevator, 32 rooms. Modern look. No swimmingpool.
Our large standard room (30m²) was bright and clean, tiled, quiet at night. Comfortable bed, clean sheets, good airco, fridge and TV. Bathroom OK. Small buffet breakfast.
Good news : the troublesome construction work near AV hotel has not been finished but no noise.

The AV Hotel is near the center of town, two or three blocks from the fountain, sort of midway from that to the morning market and shopping. So good location. The room I got, at 55 / night, was not great. It was an executive suite, which meant an small outer room that led to a public balcony, no TV, just a couch and desk so relatively useless, and a windowless cave-like bedroom. For the price there are MUCH better in Vientiane - but it was high season and those places were booked out. If you are the same circumstances, this place is fine, just go for the cheapest room possible, as the windowless suite is not worth the extra.

Pros: Location, clean. WiFi works, there's cable.

Cons: Nothing special. Windowless room. Price is not competitive.

Room Tip: Go for the superior, the executive suite is not worth it.

Pleasant staff, large studio type accommodation, decent breakfast and close enough to the attractions to either walk or bike or tuc tuc. The hotel can arrange an airport transfer if given enough notice and there are small travel agencies close by to arrange trips if needed. Hotel is functional and the price is reasonable so one to consider.

I was looking for a hotel away from the noise and craziness of the tourist crowd and found it. It's still within walking distance of the bars and restaurants.
The room was large, as large as most studio apartments. It was sparsely decorated, but had a beautiful king size four poster bed, fridgid aircon and strong WiFi.
I will stay here again in he near future.
