Stayed four nights for a business trip in mid January. Good standard rooms. Hotel in very good shape. Good quality restaurant, with excellent breakfast. This is a developing country so you can´t expect everything always to be perfect, but the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Very easy to access by car, and only a couple of blocks off the Mekong river. City center within walking distance

Room Tip: Two top floors, rooms away from main street

We booked a superior room for three nights from december 22th on. The hotel is priced way over the top (€75,00 per night) excluding breakfast. The price for wifi is $ 10,00 per day. Thats's real stone age. All the cheap guesthouses offer free wifi!!
The superior room is the dullest room we ever encountered in a hotel of the presented class. A real Soviet communist architect lived it up to the edge. You even have live shows from the neighbours. Apperently there is a open gap behid the bedpost to the adjoining room. Not really swell.
And a last warning: you better take your showers fast, otherwise your days start with soap in your eyes, as hot water runs out fast. As if this hotel isn't a teayerker all by itself.

stayed here after being redirected en route to luang prabang. 100 USD a night is a lot of laos. Confused reception staff, had booked online about 3 hours ago so had no printed copy. had to print copy off in business centre before they would even give us a room. of course, PC very slow!
Room basic, good shower and pretty good bed, TV working. Dinner at restaurant Ok, nothing special. open till 1030 but tried to tell us at 10 it was closed. breakfast not included which is ridiculous as 100 USD in laos is a lot. outdoor pool and gym area looked renovated and quite nice. free and fast transfer to airport which is near.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for a short vacation trip. The hotel is a few kilometers from bus terminal but taxi fare was quite expensive. The room was ok, roomy but could use some refurbishment. We did our research and request for a room which wasn't face the main road and it was quiet enough. So, make sure that you ask for a room that doesn't face the main road.

Breakfast offered large selection. Pho (traditional Vietnamese noodle) was nice. Their pastry was great!!! Breakfast was the best thing that happened to us while we were there.

The hotel offered a free shuttle bus to downtown in the evening.

Overall, this is a nice hotel, if you know what to ask for. A bit pricey and not in the center of the town if you compare to other hotels. However, we have nothing to complain about our stay here.

P.S. The rate I've got from the travel expo is USD 35 a night.

Room Tip: Choose a room which doesn't face the main road

The hotel is away from everything - far enough that places like the river bank is too far to walk. The room I had was supposed to be deluxe but it was low standard at best! There was no comfortable chair and no desk space to work. On the other side the rooms had free Internet but where I was I would of had to pay but I found that the meeting room and the area around the pool had free Internet. There are many other better places to stay in Vientiane - I won't stay at the Mercure again.

Out of the nine hotels in three countries on a 20 day trip this was the worse. It's situated on a very busy main road from the city to the airport. Luckily we only had a very brief stay, overnight leaving at 4am. We had a 3rd floor room facing the road and could not get to sleep till gone 1am due to the traffic noise.

If you do stay here try to get a room at the back in the wing not facing the road if you want to sleep.
